Like you Mrs. L. but with a slight twist - having been pushed out of someone else's way or barged in front of, again, politely and faux sincerely I say "I think the words you're looking for are Excuse Me Please"

It reminds me of when I first arrived ( well had been here about 6weeks), I was heavily pregnant, about 34 weeks(the size of a small hippo) - anyway in spinney, at the counter getting some hummus and this women rams me with her trolley.....I look at her stunned, and she says in a very posh British accent "well you were in the way" wTF!,,, yes there were lots of people, it was busy, so you ram the pregnant women...my response was "well as you speck English, a simple excuse me would suffice", she just turned around and headed in the other direction. There were some ladies in abaya's on the other side of me and they just shock their heads in disgust.......I always think of that when I hear that "locals" don't always appreciate the expat population...as parts of the expat population don't always behave in the best manner, and I would quite happily drive them into the sea......

I grocery shopped early enough that I had "front row" parking yesterday. A woman wanted my spot (even though it was only 10:30am and the entire parking garage was full of open spaces), so she sits and waits as I unload the heavy thing. She was clearly annoyed by my large purchase and then... wait for it... she starts HONKING at me to move faster.
So, I moved normally and then took my sweet time riding my cart like a skateboard to the front of the Mall. She wasn't there when I got back and my vehicle wasn't vandalized.
Hey
That actually happened to me ! And the person starting honking while i was strapping my son into his car seat!
btw - OP .... sorry .... very rare behaviour for a south african ... they normally really courteous ppl.

A retort I have used - and I use a very polite and faux sincere tone of voice and a sympathetic look as I do so is - "It must be difficult going through life without a personality, how do you manage?" To be really effective, turn on your heel and walk away - by the time they figure out that they've been "insulted" if they run after you they look even more foolish.

I think I would have threatened to throw a can of tomatoes at her car the mood I'm in lately. As for the trolley cows... a few choice swear words would have been uttered in their direction I'm afraid. *practicing mantra...I love Dubai*

Letting out a very subdued "ouch", I turn around and this harridan (hot, sweaty and evil looking) is standing there glaring at me. I don't move and rub my ankle and she makes some remark like "move I am trying to get out" So I reply "umm you just ran your trolley into my ankle"
Well then it all kicked off! Apparently I was rude ands shouldn't have been there in the first place and then a scottish woman with a scrawny pinched face starts yelling at me to move and take my arguement outside. (I wasn't actually arguing - I was standing there flabberghasted) I say pardon to her and she starts shouting for me to "get over myself" or something. So then I have two of these red-faced wierdos screaming at me. This is in front of a packed Macdonalds audience and my two children.
I took the higher ground and walked off, muttering to myself about the rudeness of some people but now I am really fuming about the injustice of it all.
I was only trying to buy my kids an icecream.
They prolly didn't get laid for the last year or so
Sorry to hear that... hope you and your kids are ok

would be really interested to know if anyone on here saw the whole thing. Keep thinking I must have done something to get them both so aggravated.
The place was heaving with DBS kids and it was manic but still no reason to be such total cows. I would love to put hair removing cream in their shampoo.

Nasty cows, well done for keeping your cool.
I don't understand what would possess anyone to shout at someone in front of their children. I will confront someone if the situation warrants it but if they've got children with them they'd have to be doing something pretty extreme before I'd get angry/shouty. Kids don't need to see that.

are you British SQ? you should have given her an over the pince-nez type look and said very loudly in a plum accent "how vaire daarrre you!"
nasty cow, I'd have got one of the kids to accidently drop the ice cream in her bag on the way out.

My heart goes out to you - It's bad enough having been hit with a trolley as they are damned painful things to hit you , but I also feel your pain at being embarrased in public when it's not your fault. X
PS although I am Scottish I'm not the woman number 2. LOL.
