I remember a year ago posting on a thread asking about solicitor recommendations for Will writing - a mod posted to me that I should contact the will writing company sponsored on this site - I did using the EW click through and never got a reply lol!

So, the abaya one was extremely respectful and was deleted; the Cyprus ones have been resuscitated clearly for advertising purposes and haven't been deleted (though to be fair, it's Friday and they've not been up for long).

To borrow a phrase from the Google board administration, our moderator has something of an ‘itchy trigger finger’. For many years now we have set the tone of the board where we want it to be and will remove threads just because we don’t like them. We appreciate that can be irritating, but the boards have run successfully for a long time and we like them the way they are.
More obvious rules for contributing to the board include not posting:
messages that are culturally or personally, insulting or insensitive ;
messages that include bad language ;
messages that promote social groups /activities on these boards * ;
messages arranging to meet others ;
messages promoting your commercial interests **.

I think it would be good if the Mods would get rid of the threads on Cyprus which have clearly been resuscitated for advertising purposes.

Are you serious? I've clearly missed something. I recommend the same people over and over based on personal experience and in answer to someone looking for recommendations. After all this is a forum for people to ask for information. It will be very quiet on here and their ad revenues will drop if people can't help and recommend or they will just move on to some of the other sites who encourage sharing of info and meet ups. It's a shame but this does happen from time to time on here it's usually a keen new moderator.

Well it's my understanding it's an information board, and we all know we're not supposed to 'chat', but how on earth are we supposed to share info if all of a sudden it's become advertising and promotion?

What exactly constitutes advertising or event promotion? If I recommend, as a for instance, DSS (that would be Dubai Summer Surprises for newbies) and any of the things associated with that for people who come on here looking for things to do during the heat, or wanting ways to entertain their kids during the summer: does that suddenly mean I am promoting an event?
Or if we recommend say, buying the Entertainer Book, or the Explorer books are we advertising for them? Who has drawn the line and where is it drawn?
