same same...sudden move, hubby got the contract one thursday and started work the following sunday there. We also said we weren't going unless lil miss had a school place, and I think we were very lucky in that regard. Those fs1/2 places can seem impossible to find, but hang in there. Make sure you do lots of following up with the schools so they don't forget who you are

Theres a nursery called Tender Loving Care (I think...something like that anyway...maybe google will help) that a friend had her littlie in before starting at the british school when a place came up. They do the early years and lower primary, I think, and she said she really was quite sad to have her girl leave it as it was just lovely. Maybe worth a try?

Well this move has been a bit of a sudden thing! My son has only started fs1 in sept and is really enjoying it, so am a bit sad to have to take him out of his current school....anyway, we only applied to the schools few weeks ago and as we understand the waiting lists are quite long....so don't really know if he'll get in at all! we did, however, notify my husband's company that we won't be moving unless my son has a place at school; I think it's only fair as they want us to go out there so suddenly. That's why I'm sooooo stressed at the mo!

Don't get stressed. (Says she who is having a major procrastination day as we have a flight to catch, am not packed and we're not here for 2 weeks, and still don't have a home to move to! lol)
Lil miss did get into RFS, so we want to be the Wave end of town, but not on the wave. When do you think you'll hear about the school? We have friends in Qaboos and it certainly has it's appeal....can your boy get into British school there?

Goodness me, it all sounds a bit complicated! We are hoping to find something in the wave, however we're waiting to hear if my son is going to have a place at the royal flight school. It not we may have to go to the other side of town ei: Muscat Qaboos.
I only went there once so to be honest I don't know the areas that well...getting a bit stressed out now.

Hey Miriambill! It's all good fun isnt it? We've actually spoken with Jane (and numerous others) still no joy yet. We've done all the drives around and taken down those phone numbers etc, but it appears and I'm probably very wrong , that places are advertised with multiple agencies, and while one will say it's empty it'll turn out another consultant has already let it. heyho. Which area are you looking at? I might have some numbers for you!

We're also moving from Dubai to muscat in a month! Have the same dilemma, know which area we want but there's very little advertised on the net...
Arohadbx last time we went I picked up a business card from Better Homes who now operate in Muscat as well, I think the contact on my card specializes on the wave area, however if you're after another area she will probably give you the right contact.

Hiya, hoping you may be able to help us out a bit. We're moving to Muscat in 4 weeks, 2 of which we are away overseas just to make things more interesting We're really struggling to find a home....we know the area exactly (right down to the street location!) that we want to be and what our requirements are, and there are places advertised but we have yet to find an agent who will actually show us these places and help us secure one. I don't suppose you have any Muscat contacts? Please?
