What they told me when I delivered last year, they counting starts of the number of nights, as from when the baby is born.

Thank you! Turns out water didn't break and I didn't go to the hospital until 3, when I was worried that she wasn't moving much/that the contractions had gone away. JoannaS, you're right, if we went to the hospital before 11, then it would have counted as one night.

it is the best to give them a call - but their web site says ''if you deliver before 11 :00 p.m., that is included as the first night.''

I would say yes, but if your water broke you have to go to hospital anyway.

If I'm due for a c-section tomorrow, but am already having contractions and my water broke- if I were to go in before 12am, does that count as one night out of the four?
