Could you please, that would be great, coming up with nothing today.

I didn't think any kind of psychiatry was covered by insurance here.

Yes, I was covered with Dr.Amer previously for sure. Axa covers it. NOt now though as he's no longer covered at all, need to get him insurance ourselves.

Trouble is Dr Amer is the 'celebrity' psychiatrist so he's always away doing tv/radio shows and what not, hence the unreliability. I used to go to him, but gave up in the end.

Can't recommend Dr Hany enough and he's registered with the Canadian board and a certified examiner also.

Chocs01.........I just called Dr Hany's office, 1,000 AED for a consultation? Is that right? My DS has just turned 18 so is no longer allowed under our health insurance, i can't be paying that kind of money, do you get a friday brunch thrown in?

His mobile goes straight to voice mail, well in did a couple of weeks ago when i was using him. NO, I've given up on him, was never that happy to be honest anyway, he was a clock watcher, which isn't good either. This specialty requires a different temperament i feel, this man was too self absorbed.

do you have his mobile number? I've got it off the website: 050 4558886

I sit in the waiting room on a weekly basis waiting for DD to have her appointment with a phschologist and for the last 2-3weeksI think it's been they've been phoning people to cancel his appointments. Not sure what's going on and we've got one with him in a couple of weeks. I've presumed it's a personal/family issue. They've been giving the name/number for another psychiatrist for prescriptions to be filled though.

Don't have an alternative to suggest though

We've been using Dr Amer actually, but it's becoming too unreliable, he cancels appointment's or you have to wait weeks to get seen. He changed my sons medication and we couldn't get hold of him to ask a serious question related to side effects and had to send an email which he didn't even bother to answer till our next appointment. Made me nervous to continue with him, what if something had happened? Surely he should be contactable by patients?

Dr Amer at Dubai Community Health, however, up til last Wednesday every time we've been there they've been phoning people to say he's away - not sure how ongoing it is.

Can anyone recommend a psychiatrist in Dubai?. Not a psychologist or a psychotherapist, a doctor of psychiatry who can prescribe medication and diagnose rather than someone to have therapy or counselling with.

Appreciated.
