Other than the farce that the registration has been over the last few years, I am in complete awe of what they are actually achieving with this process. They will have the full details or every (or most) people living here. I can only imagine the upheaval that this would create if the government back home decided to implement this ! yet, we are all doing it, moaning about the process rather than what it actually means for us. If i am honest, I have mixed feelings about this. I think it will be much better for fighting crime but I also felt really weird being finger printed and photographed in that manner. I am pretty sure police work would be far easier back home if the same process applied...

So annoying, but hardly surprising.

Annoying because I got mine pretty much as soon as I arrived (because it was in the papers EVERY DAY) and now people who never bothered end up paying less than me, because mine is supposedly linked to my visa BUT my card expires next year and my visa the year after that- my card really only got a bit over a year validity because even though I applied for it one month the validity went from then not from when they made the card, which was some time after that! Cheated out of 3-4 months worth!!

Yes I agree! Think all the people without them should be punished - severely! Stick Out Tongue

Annoying since we complied early on and now have to pay every year to have it renewed. For a family of six - and two housekeepers - that adds up!

Totally agree, its very annoying- I had to suffer the queques when my regular renewal coincided with the "final" deadline due to the rush of all the latercomers and now they extend it. So just had the whole process made more tiresome for no reason.

It is now as you can't renew your visa without an ID card. People will have to.

I do wish it would stop being extended. From the outset it should have been 'you have four years', and then all visas from that moment should have been linked directly to the card. Then any of the four year visas had time to expire and then be renewed with the linked visa app process. It really becomes like the boy who cried wolf.
