Hi If you send me your email address I can send you a foster manual that Feline Friends give to all new foster carers, this details when cats and kittens should be vaccinated, weaned, neutered etc.

Hi All,

Our cat that I took last year and hand fed myself has recently had 2 kittens, (many reasons for not getting her to the vets). This is no problem, they have names and they are here for keeps.

They are 3 weeks old now and I have been googling all over to try and work out how/when to visit the vets. Obviously Mum now needs to be neutered and babies vaccinated, chipped etc. I have read that she can't be neutered until the kittens have been weaned, but she does leave them and go outside at times, I am assuming then that if she's nursing she shouldn't fall pregnant again. My real question is will they essentially wean themselves, or will I need to encourage it some way? I know with Mum she didn't want to know food and was quite happy being fed by me, until I had to leave for home in a hurry and my friend took her and weaned her within a week! As she keeps them upstairs it's not as though they even see her eat.

Then when the time comes do I just take them all together to the vets rather than separate them? From what I've read I'm looking at about the 6 week mark.

If anyone can just give me some timelines I'd be really grateful. Thanks
