Exactly. The guy at the AT & T shop (located just across from the info desks ground level) will fix you up quickly. I bought a new SIM and some minutes for $80, and that lasted me 3 US trips over a span of 10 months. AT & T deducts $2 per day you use it from this balance; that's free nationwide calls and texts. International texts were $.50, I think. I recharged mine at an AT & T store (in another state) when it finally ran out. I also had a blackberry, but the aggravating thing was not being able to get my emails...if you don't have a data package with AT & T you'd have to open an account with them to have this option.

I googled buying a sim card at JFK 2012 and there were lots of conflicting answers. I have no idea how accurate or helpful this guy really is:

Hello!
Have been in Dubai almost a year, and I am travelling home to the States for the summer (yay!).

I have a Blackberry Curve and can switch the SIM card when I get to the States.
But, I have no clue how to do this!
Where do I buy the SIM card? Can I buy one at JFK ? If I wait and buy one in Ohio, what type of store can I find one at? No clue who sells a SIM card.
AND, once I have a SIM card, how do I purchase credits to make phone calls??

Any advice is appreciated! :-)
Thanks!

You should be able to buy one from any of the mobile provider shops- T-Mobile etc, or even such shops as Radio shack- you would be able to get a prepaid line (without a contract). I have never bothered though to check if T-Mobile have a store at JFK, but guess you could check online.
