If its giving you a 'nice brown tan' with a high uv, then its not doing its job. A tan is effectively burnt skin.

I am petrified of the sun. I hide under a HUGE umbrella. People comment, but I couldn't care less!

In 20 years your friend will look like a wrinkly crisp...... would you like that look too?

Actually Asians are more likely to present with untreatable skin cancers because of that misconception. Plus cancers are more likely to occur on unexposed skin, that that which is exposed during tanning. Even though the percentage of those getting cancers might be low, the majority of those cases are fatal. Still not worth taking the risk really. Instead of oils, use a decent sunscreen with a good spf, you'll still tan and evenly, but with a reduced risk. Plus there are many with tan enhancers which limit your exposure. edited by Chocs01 on 21/06/2012
Please lets each stick to our own research and follow what we think is good for us ! Am thankful for you looking out but c'mon as adults we have the right to our own opinions!Don't feel the need to defend myself any further...just posted about a query...not too keen to get preaching shoved down my throat ;O) Just to add: as melanin levels are high in our skin, exposure time is also less coz we get tanned quicker...prolonged exposure is the key to cancer! But thanks for sharing your thoughts.....
