Yep, still having problems. My mum is on Vodafone. Don't think this will ever be resolved as the network providers here say nothing is wrong.
I don't know where to go from here but there is definitely a huge problem judging by the amount of ladies here with the same issues.

I am also having the same problem, however I am on DU. I am trying to text tmobile

I defo think the problem is with tmobile as I can text other people, it is just tmobile that is not receiving my messages...

Very annoying...

It seems there are many of us having the same issues with texting UK. I have narrowed it down to T Mobile and virgin networks. Called Etisalat again today as I am being charged for the texts not being received. They are adamant that it is not an Etisalat issue but the UK networks. My friend has called t mobile and been told no issue their side.

Anyone have any other updates?

Hi! I originally posted this problem and I'm kinda glad that I'm not alone on this one anymore. Yes I'm still having problems. I text 3 times today and my mum got 2 of them which is a miracle. Was texting them last week and nothing. They also took their mobile into shop where bought but nothing to report. They've had that phone for 2-3 years and no problems before but this has now been going for about 3 months. I have 2 other old Dubai numbers with Etisalat and still doesn't work. My DH has also tried and nothing. I don't try to think about it too much now because it really upsets me. I still receive all my mums texts and she is fully aware of the problems. We Skype once a week and sometimes email. All too distressing. Texting has been around for a long time and I just wish I knew why we are having this disruption in service.

My friend is having same problem texting her Mum -- her Mum is not receiving her texts or vice versa -- her Mum is on T Mobile --so she took her phone into T Mobile shop they run tests and no problem ?!?!? My friend took her phone into Etisilat and they run it though test -- no problem ?!?!? Yet they can each text other networks and no problem so appears to be between TMobile and Etisilat ??

I am also having problems texting my parents. They are both with T-Mobile and I am with Etisalat. I can however text another friend of mine in the UK, no problem. My mum and dad took their phones to T-Mobile and they ran them through the system and told them there was nothing wrong. I only wish there was a solution as I feel insecure not being able to contact them on a daily basis. I anyone else still having problems or do you have a solution`/

I thought I had cracked it when I got a new phone and suddenly my Mum and I could receive each other's messages and I even got a couple of old ones through that I had not received the previous week. However it soon went back to not working again and we would only receive occasional messages from each other. I have got her to download Whatsapp now and we are chatting fine on there so we will stick to that, no idea what the issue was. I am quite happy she has got Whatsapp though as I have been asking her to download it for ages so now we can message for free, it was costing me a fortune to send loads of messages that she wasn't even getting!

Yeh, me too! My mum wasn't receiving my texts a couple of wks ago, but I was receiving hers ok. I just gave up trying and started to email her instead, so don't know if the problem is solved. I have an old Nokia phone, and am with etisalat....and I think she's with Vodafone. Frustrating for sure....you're not alone.

You're not alone, Quicksilver - I've been having this problem, too. Very frustrating as I can receive texts from the UK but my mother doesn't receive mine 99% of the time... And yes, I find it stressful too because my mother gets really cross, thinking I can't be bothered to reply!! Whaaaaa?

Still having a problem with this - anyone else? 5% of the time she may receive one from me - my parents went to Wales for a holiday last week and my mum's friend could receive my texts but still mum couldn't but then she got one at the end of the holiday. This really does stress me out considering we have NEVER had this problem in 4 years. Maybe it will resolve when I leave Dubai one day but don't know when that will be

I been having problems again. My mum is visiting a friend near London and she is receiving my texts but I net as soon as she is home this will not be the case. I have text from 4 different UAE numbers beforehand and she didn't get any, yet my sister is receiving. Like I said before - its really distressing because there doesn't seem to be an actual reason for this happening. I said in a previous post that I did a hard reset which helped for about a day and then problems again. This is so unfair considering us expats don't have our family near :-(

It is happening to my friend here. If you dont have enough credit the text will not send and it will tell you it hasnt sent. As long as you have enough credit to send a text ( and it is minimal here) it will send however not being received is another matter

Yeah I definitely do but thanks for the suggestion - I do occasionally run out but definitely haven't done on this occasion - and usually even when I have run out I can still receive messages, just can't send. And it is odd that it is only to my Mum's phone, I can still message friends in the UK.

I have started having this problem - but only with my Mum - other UK numbers are fine. Everything was OK until a week ago and then since then we have not been receiving each others messages at all. I am currently in the process of getting her to use Whatsapp, it is so weird. I am on Etisalat and she is on Orange and texts are not working in either direction

I am still having problems texting UK. Anyone else same? Going on for 3 weeks now and Etisilat tell me they have checked and cannot find a fault. Very distressing as my Dad is sick and cannot text me. I have tried using different phone and different numbers in UK. These don't work either. Be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

Just to update, I did a hard reset on my iPhone and my mum seems to be receiving my texts now.

Well like I said, I've never had a problem in 4 years. I have an iPhone and changed to du about 2 months ago but this only started to happen at the weekend. My sister still can receive my texts and she only lives 2 hours away from my mum so why is this happening? Its so distressing. Texting has been around for years now and I feel totally lost as to what's going on.

I am also Etisalat. I don't have a smartphone and it's not practical for my elderly, sick Dad to use Skype.
My phone is about 4 years old, motorola. Is it because my phone is old? I don't know if I should buy a new one? Are other peoples phones old that are also having problems?
What do we do? TIA

Also a recent problem that I've been experiencing is that if my handset is off, even for a few hours, Du does not deliver messages to me sent during that time. Because its an intermittent problem I have not managed to challenge it with Du.

I'm Etisalat, and as mentioned below it's not just between the UAE and UK at the moment...

Same here - problems for the last two months with my Mum and sister in the UK, who are on different networks. I sometimes don't get their texts, and vice versa. Have been assuming it's a UK problem, as my uncle who is in China is having the same problems - either that or his texts arrive three days after they've been sent!

I have the same problem. I text my Dad in England every day and although I receive his texts, he hasn't had any of mine since last Friday. I don't know what to do to sort this.
It is very frustrating. It has happened before and it sorted itself eventually.

Would also appreciate some advice on what to do?

Thanks

Do either of you have a smart phone? BB, Iphone, etc? If so you can download Whats app
