Try in Dubai first as you live here. There are a few Ejari registration centres, one is inside the Al Manara municipality building on SZR. To register the tenancy contract you'll need the pp/visa copy of whoever is on the contract, as well as the title deeds of the property.

So it is our turn to renew our residency visas, not getting much help from husband's company. We are tenants in Dubai but are now getting residents visas from Abu Dhabi. How do we register our tenancy contract to satisfy the new rules? In Dubai or Abu Dhabi? If in Dubai, where do we have to go for the Ejari registration or do we do it online?
Thanks!

SB please can you clarify, you lived here so must have had a marriage certificate for your visa - it must have been attested? Have you checked the back of your certs? Also for your child to have a visa the birth certificate would have had to have been attested.
edited by ShannonB on 09/08/2012 Yes our birth and mariage certs were all attested by the foreign office in the UK and then UAE embassy in London....which enabled the visa processing to proceed when we arrived in the UAE...if that's the question. edited by Sugarbeach on 09/08/2012

I've never heard of anyone living here/giving birth here without a residence visa so didn't know that was the scenario
All clarified now. If you don't want to spend money on a PRO you can just approach an immigration centre with all of your papers and ask them to clarify what you need. Take a notebook to write down what they say & report back.

who mentioned any other visa? lol! very confusing.
A PRO stands for Public Relation Officer but generally means a go-between you and government/official offices. They are the kind people who trudge around in the heat doing the red tape/paperwork and shield most of us from getting involved in the processes.

oh okay i wasnt aware of any other kind of visa other than the visit one and the residency.... we were actually never residents in kuwait either and we lived there for 3 years, the hospital there didnt have a problem with it either, maybe because they are private hospitals??? i did have to show my marriage certificate at the hospital in kuwait though... the only time we needed it here in dubai though was just for registering the birth and that whole process. I will look up the PRO's mentioned on here, hopefully it will be something simple that can be taken care of within Dubai thanks for all your help, i really appreciate it.... by the way what is a PRO exactly, i've gathered they are people that help you with this stuff, but what does it stand for if i were to try to look it up on line???

Sounds like your marriage cert is not attested - but see what happens.

Yes it sounds good!
The UAE Embassy stamps etc all look like postage stamps
Ok, so now get your tenancy contract registered and you might have everything you need! Worth a try anyway.

I'm looking through my papers now and I am find some stamps on some of them, not sure if they are the ones i need or not though... they are from 2007 (when we got married) and they just say that they are certified copies (but they are originals... it says original license on the side, but the stamp says its a copy of the actual document on file) if that makes sense... my youngest sons uae birth certificate has 3 ministry of health stamps and 2 stamps that look like postage stamps... some on front, some on the back. there is another uae birth certificate that has all the same stamps but it also has one from the ministry of foreign affairs (this on is like a sticker) then i have the american report of birth abroad (showing he is an american citizen) which has no stamps .... my oldest sos kuwait birth certificate is in aribic and i have no idea what it says, it has a few stamps... his report of birth from america has a seal on it and thats it.... does any of this help??? lol

SB you can't get the visas without the stamps, so they would have taken the certs.
Slightly surprised re delivery in AH without marriage cert etc and on visit visa, but that clarifies.
ShannonB, I think before you think about the visa process you need to :-
-speak to a PRO (the one recommended on here would be fine) -ask them what the process is for attesting your marriage cert, Kuwaiti birth cert and Dubai birth cert is (maybe it would be possible for you to have them done here in Embassies rather than couriering home etc). -get your tenancy contract registered
After you've done all that you can start the visa process..........

Not sure my case would clarify or just cause more confusion...it's a little hazy now.... Basically, upon arrival in Dubai, DH's company PRO took our 3 passports (DH, DD and I) for visa processing, I can't remember whether they also took the attested marriage and birth certs.
In anycase, prior to arriving in the UAE, I went around to the Foreign Office (is that what it's call? Anyway it's in Milton Keynes) to attest (i.e. formally sign and stamp at the back) our qualification certs, birth and marriage certs....then took them to the UAE embassy in London to get them doubly attested (another stamp)...they literally seemed to do this as a rubber stamping exercise....not sure this helps.

We do live here, but we don't have visas. That's why I made this post was to try and find out how to get a visa... My son was born here at the American Hospital 9 months ago. We first came here early May 2011, and went home for a long stay in the States from March 2012 to July 2012 (we just got back about a month ago) I acually don't mind doing the visa runs, but my oldest son is starting KG1 so he needs it for school.

When did you live here, how long ago did all this take place?

So I will have to mail all the stuff off.... Maybe we will just keep doing Visa runs. lol As far as having a baby here they didnt ask for anything... I mean we had to go through the process of getting the birth certificate, which we paid someone to do, but never had to send off for any stamps or anything.

Procedure will be the same in any country of birth:-
It has to be either notarised by a public notary/then legalised at the equivalent of a ministry of foreign affairs, OR attested by a court in that country and then in all cases stamped by the UAE Embassy in that country. Then attested by MOFA in UAE.
If you think about it backwards, the UAE is stamping at MOFA that the UAE Embassy of that country is a true stamp, then the UAE Embassy is stamping that whoever has legalised it is a true entity, then whoever has legalised it is attesting that whoever notarised/attested it to start with was a true person etc, and the person at the start is attesting that it is a true certificate from a true establishment. It is basically to ensure no fake certificates get through.
HTH.
