PS - I should add we dont have an FS2 place for Sept 2013 yet, just a possible FS1 place in a nursery. From what you've seen, do places tend to come up in the preceeding year or have we left it far too late.....? xx

Hi!

Thanks for your response, lovely to hear from you! So your little boys starts pre school this Sept (2012)? Yes, same as mine. We've heard really good things about GEM DSO but they have told us that their waiting lists is closed and so we can't even go on the list. We'd be happy to pay from now until January even though same as you we wont be there but so far no luck. Maybe we'll keep calling them in Sept as hopefully there will be some movement in the list. Yes, JESS does seem crazy!

So you are moving out to Dubai at Christmas? From the UK? Thing is, my husband hasnt applied for the posting yet, it came up and we heard that schools were tricky so wanted to avoid being in the situation where we arrived and had no place, so we are doing all this work into schools and he may not even get the posting!! If he does apply and get it, we'd be moving out from London at Christmas time. I've never even been to Dubai so am taking a bit of a punt! The thought of being able to take the boys to nursery/school myself and not have to work is appealing though I have to say!! If he does get out we'll swing over in Oct to check a few places out. Where did you look at re places to live? Do you know anything about Arabian Ranches by any chance? The stuff we have seen looks great for children. The boys love their little bikes and it looks really safe. Have you got accomodation sorted for when you arrive? Are you putting your twins in nursery at any time?

So you have a pre schooler and 2 twins who'll be one in Sept? Same as me, my baby will be 1 in Sept too!

Never used a forum before, so not sure what chat lines being open means but yes would love to stay in touch!

xx

Hello!

My hubby and I took a 4 day trip to Dubai to look at schools etc. back in May and we saw JESS Arabian Ranches, GEMS DSO and Uptown in Mirdif. All really nice schools. JESS waitlists are crazy and my little boy will start pre school in Sept. in the end we settled on GEMS DSO and to guarantee a seat for him we are having to pay from Sept even though it looks like we will be Christmas/early Jan before we get there. Both Uptown and GEMS DSO at the time had limited availability for FS1 and couldnt guarantee me that by Jan they would have places left.

No knowledge of Repton so I can't help you there. We looked at potental areas to live first and then looked at schools second as driving there is a bit tricky and i didnt want to have to drive miles and miles each day. A lot of the schools have transport but not for FS1.

Happy to share any other info if you like or to keep a chat line open as our boys are the same age. I also have twin boys who turn one early Sept. let me know if i can help.
Xx

Hi, we are thinking about moving out to Dubai from the UK in Jan 2013 with my husband's job for 4 years. We have 2 boys, one will be in pre school (which I think is called FS1 in Dubai) in Jan and the other will only be just over 1 and so we need to get an FS1 place for Jan and an FS2 place for September - easier said than done it seems!

We don't want to accept the move only to get over to Dubai and find we don't have a school place, but we're really excited about the potential move and do want to come.

Does anyone have any guidance or recommendations on what schools are likely to have these places available? Does anyone have any thoughts on Repton school as it looked good from the website?

Finally, is Arabian Ranches a good place to live with 2 little ones, enough to do, or is it a bit deserted? Am thinking I will need to make some friends fast as we don't know anyone over there!

Has anyone else struggled to get a school place and if so, what on earth do you do if you can't get a place in time for the start of term???

Thanks in advance!
