I'm fairly new here and just bought a car. I have recently given birth to my first child who is 4 weeks old now and I am absolutely terrified of driving with her in the car. I find the roads here absolutely lethal. Tomorrow morning, I'll be driving to Shaik Zayed Road for the first time from festival city. I do not have a GPS, but received fairly detailed directions from a neighbor of mine. . I've always been a very competent and confident driver when i lived in Ireland and Holland, but the thought of venturing out on these roads and trying to anticipate the next move of every car on the road is terrifying me. I guess what I'm asking for is for some motivational words from other drivers who has overcome their fear. Will I ever be confident behind the wheel again??

Since you were a healthy weight when you got pregnant I think it's very odd that your doctor is telling you you can only gain 11kg throughout your entire pregnancy. I gained over 15kg (went from 58-ish to almost 75kg!) during my pregnancy and I lost 11, yes ELEVEN of those kilo's right after giving birth. Am back to my pre-pregnancy weight now 4 months postpartum. As long as you don't have GD your weight gain is really not that big a deal.

The OP is simply asking for ideas - what we feed our children is our own decision which we always make for the best reasons that suit our circumstances at the time...do "you" (as in, no-one in particular !!) really think that other parents don't have their own children's best interests at heart ?? pfft

Message from Dubai-Mum

As a child of a super busy working mum, breakfast almost always was a slice of bread with jam, I could never digest sweet early mornings but bread and jam it was, I was happy the days I got a sunny side up egg and toast soldiers. If I see bread and jam even now it makes my tummy turn.

Lunch was some money to get a packet of crisps and a juice box.

When life got a little less crazy mum slowed down and wanted to make more of an effort. She'd painstakingly create triple decker sandwiches with unheard of ingredients and probably woke up earlier than usual to kill the guilt of the early years, but by then it was too late. Habits had been set in stone and I still craved junk. so I would stand in the stairwell of the third floor of the school which looked down on the teachers coffee stand and try to aim bits of the sandwiches into their cups, and when one plopped into the mug of a teacher that was that, they moved to the safety of a room and I lost a bit of lunch time fun.

So probably best to set habits early, judging by my story.
