'The Town' is set in the Charlestown suburb in Boston, USA.
Doug (Ben Affleck), is the leader of the gang who rob banks and security vans for the florist, British actor Pete Postlethwaite. There's a history with Doug's parents and the florist, who has a hold over Doug and Doug wants to break free.
Donned with some good rubber masks (great with Halloween coming up) the gang carry out their first heist - at a bank. They take the beautiful bank manageress, Claire, (Rebecca Hall) hostage, later letting her go free. There's only one good looking guy of the gang, Doug (of course!) who then tracks her down and befriends her.
Slow in places, (there were a few heart to hearts), but with lots of gun action and some great street car chases and good camera work, I felt as though I was in the vehicle with them! It did have you on the edge of your seat at times.
A predictable story line but with good drama and action, a few funny one-liners, and a bit of romance thrown in. What more could we ask for?
Reminded me of the film 'Catch me if you can'.
