Thor

In history, the Viking legend of Thor is portrayed as a large, powerful man with a red beard, flowing hair, hearty enjoyment of food and drink and eyes of lighting. In the movie, this god of thunder is rather spiffy and yummy to look at too, with a hunky swagger and a cheeky charm! This action packed movie is suitable for ladies and gents alike, with a sweet love story between human and god-hunk, thrown into the mix.

Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and the afore mentioned Chris Hemsworth (Thor) act out this movie well. It’s fascinating if you know your Nordic mythology, although not a necessity as the story is well explained. There are some funny one-liners, great special effects and some touching moments as well. The crux of the story: the reckless actions of the mighty Thor result in the threat of war with the Ice Giants and as a result, his father, Odin, banishes him to Earth. It’s funny to watch Thor adjust to the human way of life at first and then how he tackles the FBI one-handed, in order to obtain his hammer, the Mjollnir. Not dissimilar to the other myth, ‘The Sword in the Stone’, we watch countless US citizens try to dislodge his hammer to but sadly to no avail...

It is worthwhile viewing this movie with 3D glasses to gain the best from visual effects of Asgard, the universe and the bifrost machine...
