Ramadan 2012:

In 2012, the holy month of Ramadan is expected to start on the 20 July and end around 28 days later (precise timings will depend on sighting of the new moon). Ramadan is an important time for all Muslims, but it also has implications for nonMuslims in Oman. You should show respect to those who are fasting and pay attention so as not to offend Islamic values.

Online appointment booking:

From 14 July 2012, the Consular Section will be moving to an appointment only service for customers. Anyone requiring Consular services at the British Embassy, Muscat should book an appointment online. Visit our website and click ‘Consular appointment system’ to find a ‘step by step guide’ on how to use the system. Please note we do not deal with UK visa or passport enquiries and appointments cannot be booked to discuss any visa or passport matter.

5. *23 July Monday In Lieu of Renaissance Day
6. *19/20 August Sunday/Monday Eid al Fitr
7. *27-28 October Saturday/Sunday Eid al Adha
8. *17/19 November Saturday,Sunday,Monday National Day & Islamic New Year
9. 25/26 December Tuesday, Wednesday In Lieu of Christmas & Boxing Day

All Holidays marked (*) may vary as per Muslim Calendar and Local Government announcements.

The total number of holidays granted this year is 15 days. This includes the addition of a day’s holiday to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
