Eid Al Adha Dates in Oman Have Been Confirmed

The Saudi Supreme Court announced yesterday that the moon sighting has been confirmed and Eid Al Adha will be on September 1st, 2017 and Arafat day will fall on August 31st, 2017.

Eid Al Adha is a four-day celebration which starts on the 9th day of the month of Dhul Hijja in the Islamic calendar.

Arafat day is the day on which Prophet Mohammed made his farewell address and Eid Al Adha is the day on which Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (Ishmael), on God’s demand is commemorated.

Eid Al Adha is celebrated for three days during which Muslims are encouraged to take the pilgrimage to Mecca or alternatively spend time with friends and family, symbolically sacrifice an animal and pray and listen to a sermon at a mosque

Holidays for the public and private sectors are yet to be confirmed.
