My daughter works at Glasgow Airport and tells me there is a dedicated area/room for ladies to go to reveal their faces to female staff

Thanks...it was really one of those, "just curious" type of questions.

When I went to Jordan, the woman in front of me in the immigration line was fully veiled and the man at the immigration counter asked her to lift her veil so he could match her passport picture, which she did.

Matching a face to a picture doesn't happen at security, so no reason why a woman should be asked at that point (unless she beeps, at which point she should be taken to a closed off room to be searched by women). It's at the check in desk and then at immigration where that would be an issue.

Not a Muslim, but in the airports in Muslim countries I am taken into a closed cubical to be searched by a woman. Last month one felt my compression stockings under my trousers and I had to show them to her and explain what they were and why I was wearing them. Was very surprised she even felt them! Again, that's not the answer to your face veil question.

I have had plenty of veiled women lift their veils in my presence to improve communications, eat, etc., but this has always been in places or situations where no men will see.

I in no way intend this to be disrespectful, I am only searching for answers. I do not wish this to include opinions on whether it's "right" or "wrong" -- just curious as to what the procedure is.

For women who wear a veil that either partially covers or wholly covers their face, when going through airport security, are you ever asked to reveal your face at any point? I thought maybe in a private setting you could reveal it, but at DXB there were so many instances where one must present a passport, I wasn't sure how that worked.

I hope this isn't considered out of line.

Thanks in advance for your honesty...
