I'm due in March too! Due on March 16th with first baby. Have had two miscarriages so far this year so am really hoping for third time lucky! I am 10 weeks and 2 days today. Have had a very eventful pregnancy so far. Was told initially I had a suspected blighted ovum! Luckily I got a second opinion and baby is doing well so far! Have had lots of scares, spotting every day (which is how my other miscarriages started so kept freaking out) and had a big bleed on August 5th but this little baby is stubborn and hanging on! I was at home in my home country for all the drama and had my first scan with Dr. Elsa in city hospital last Tuesday. (She helped me through my last miscarriage and was amazing) Baby measured ten weeks, got to hear the heartbeat (probably the best sound of my life) and baby even gave a jump! Obviously terrified to tell anyone in case something happens, but growing a little more confident each day, taking comfort in the fact that this little one is obviously a little fighter! Morning/all day sickness kicked in around 6 weeks. Get really strong waves of nausea where I think I am going to throw up but have actually only vomited once. Smells usually set me off or if I leave it too long too eat. I'm off my food too...eating about half of what I would normally eat. (Which is probably no harm!) Finding it hard to relax completely after two miscarriages in a row but trying to remain positive. City Hospital have been amazing...I think the ER staff must know me by name now! It's been wonderful to deal with people who take your concerns seriously and don't try to fob you off. I'm so happy with City Hospital and Michelle, Dr. Elsa's nurse is AMAZING!!!! Hoping we all have happy, healthy pregnancies! xxx

HA! I thought the ginger-thing was just me! I used to love it, but yak now! And don't get me started on the weird dreams....

Glad the coconut helped--I will have to give it a try!

Thanks, Sparkly

I just posted on the cold meats thread if you all wanna see what my Doc told me. It is really hard though as I just love cold turkey and chicken!!

Nimonemo, I have my first Obs appt at 12.5 wks, same situation as you. I had to do a blood test to confirm the HCG levels were all good at 5 weeks but other than that no tests for me. ** ETA- also each visit to GP I do a urinalysis to make sure kidneys are coping.

I have to thank MOMOFTWINS! I had a coconut water drink on the weekend and it really did help to settle my stomach. I ate well for 1.5 days after that. The nausea was completely gone (until I went overboard and over ate as I was enjoying myself to much Whaaaaa? )

Congrats to everyone on the pregnancies! I have been following this thread with interest and am really happy to officially join it! I am 11 weeks and due early/mid March! Had a scan earlier this week!

I have been so queasy most of the time, but that has been manageable (strangely enough, green olives have helped--must be the salt! I have eaten so much d*mn ginger that the idea of it makes me want to puke!). However, the worst part for me has been the insomnia! I did not have this with my first and it has been like some flicked a switch and said "now, you will not sleep!") Anyone else have this morning sickness symptom???

Nimonemo and Pingu--Regarding the cold meats, one thing I was advised was just to put it in the microwave for a minute or until steaming and that should kill the listeria. So, you can nuke 'em before putting them on your sandwich! http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/listeria.html

Thanks Aussiepup for your clarification.

Regards cold meats, NHS from the UK says:

"Cold meats and smoked salmon:
Some countries advise pregnant women not to eat cold meats or smoked fish because of the risk of listeria. In the UK, we don't advise women to avoid these products because the risk is low. The risk of listeria is much higher with cheeses such as camembert, brie or chevre (a type of goat's cheese) and others with a similar rind, or pâté, which you shouldn't eat during pregnancy. However, if you are concerned, you might also choose to avoid cold meats and smoked fish while you are pregnant"

I have checked the package of turkey and roast beef I have in the fridge and it is from Sharjah... so I don´t think I will eat it. However I haven´t realised and I have eaten smoked salmon, I think from Norway, country that gives me slightly more guarantees than UAE, to be honest.

Unfortunately I don´t think we should be eating cold meats here in Dubai. This is going to be more difficult I thought!

Hi nimonemo
Most would probably just go and have the blood test to confirm the pregnancy and then wait until 10-12 weeks before seeing and obgyn. I usually have early scans due to previous ectopic and misscarriage so my Dr likes to make sure things are where they should be at 5-6 weeks but then my next appointment isn't until 10-12 mark.

OMG I am soooooo tired still. Wasn't like this at all with DS and I'm not feeling nausea but I think with the fatigue I just feel blahh. I also am liking fresh fresh fruit - especially peaches and salad. Also want Turkey and Ham but have avoided it. Has anyone else had cold meats at all?

Good morning ladies!
Nice to read everybody is doing well.
I'm in my week 7 and I haven't had major nausea yet. I feel very lucky so far!
Eating loads and still feeling very tired, I need to be in bed at 10 pm! My stomach is quite doggy in general, maybe I am suffering the lack of nausea in another way???
I'm not going to the doctor until my 12 week - have you had any major analysis or test during your first trimester so far? Because I feel well we have decided not to go to the hospital until week 12, do you think it is a god idea?
Thanks

I think everyone is different Pingu... a friend back in Oz is pg with twins and she has had the cruisiest pg ever!! Lucky girl!

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired! Am actually delirious most of the time. Have to keep having 20 min power naps which keeps me going for about 2 hrs and then I go down hill again. Also not eating all that much probably doesn't help either. Am forcing myself to basically eat what I am eating. Not sick at all, just cronically tired.
Wasn't like this at all with DS.

Eli1979 I know! I was so excited when I found out and I came on here and read your post but I didn't want to say anything until I had had my scan, then I came back and saw your news and my heart broke for you hun. We could have been neighbours in the hospital again

The natural way to help with nauseousness is drinking coconut water (not the milk!). Look for green coconuts at Spinneys, they come peeled, use a corkscrew and poke a hole in it and drink it very cold from a straw! It helps!!!! This was given to my by my doc when I was preg of my twins. Good luck and congrats!!!!

2 under 2 and I'm packing myself! ha ha ha.

I am due 1st April but if last pg was anything to go by the LO will be here a couple of weeks early and potentially arriving very fast.

I had a scan early at 5w and a few days as I've had an ectopic and misscarriage before DS1. Everything is where it is meant to be and confirmed only 1 (thank goodness because the night before I had a dream the Doc told me there were 4)... I was almost not going to go for the appointment for fear she was going to tell me this! HA HA HA.

Next scan on my birthday - fingers crossed for good news

Congrats to all

Awesome news, congrats! How far apart will your two be? Are you terrified? Big Grin

So we are back on the 22nd to see if both sacs have heartbeats then we can officially say its twins!!! Freaking out a bit lol!
Fell nauseous and generally just yuck most of the day but havent actually been sick yet! Think I am 7 weeks tomorrow more or less, we'll see at the scan

Thanks sparkly. I am still trying to decide between the packages in City or AH, I think it is six and half a dozen so I will end up in whichever give me an appointment on a Saturday. Also all the Doctors seem to have pretty good reviews...

Congratulations Sweets, such a funny day to be born, it only happens once every 4 years!

How is everybody else doing? The last two days I had a a brief, sharp, stabbing pain in my abdomen, I have checked online and apparently is my uterus growing but it normally happens in the second trimester (starting week 7 today). Anybody else feeling that?

Ladies, are you showing yet? I do have a suspicious wee belly

Hi Nimonemo, I don't have insurance (thinking about getting ADNIC as many EW talk about on here) but I will be getting a package with City Hospital with or without insurance. I don't have experience with American. I have not heard great things about Medcare but really is only hearsay.

I didn't know you could 'buy' packages when on insurance but if what you mean is to obtain pre-approval for a list of services within a maternity program then it would be a great idea to do that. Preapproval means it is guaranteed to be paid by the insurance company so long as the preapproval does not expire. The hospital insurance dept should take care of this. Once you have preapproval, regardless of which hospital you end up with, you will know exactly what is and isn't included before it happens. A great thing I think.

Congrats DubaiKB! I have my first scan at 12 weeks- coming up quickly! Wish I had one earlier as I said before it doesn't feel like it's really happening yet. All the best!

The only reason I had an scan on week 5 is because I book an appointment with Dr. George in American Hospital who is specialized in scans. I only wanted to confirm my pregnancy and he used that method to do it. It is my first pregnancy so I just choose a random doctor at the AH and it happens that he uses scans. However, I discovered that I have a 20% co-insurance if I don´t go for a package so I don´t think I will do more extra scans (only the 3 included in the package).

Talking about packages, I am looking for buying two packages one for pregnancy and another for delivery (I only have to pay 10% when I buy a package) and I am trying to decide which Hospital (American, City or Medcare). I will appreciate if you tell me your experiences.

Thanks ladies.

Sparkly glad to hear your MS is better Least at a 12 week scan you get to see baby nicely! Today all I will see is a little sac I think and hopefully a heartbeat
