Mine didn't work (Du internet). With a VPN, the line was too slow for a good connection. Tried their help chat, they couldn't solve the issue either, but concluded that it just doesn't work. Using Skype with VPN since then and it works brilliantly most of the time.

Magic Jack was a godsend my last year in Dubai. The only thing you need to worry about is it cuts off after 1 1/2 hours of talking. Then it puts you in timeout for about 5 minutes before you can re-connect with who you were talking to.
I used it with Du and had no problems at all.

We only used it for a month but had already paid the $20 fee... Oh, random. Did you call and complain? It is designed to be used overseas, so the fact that it doesn't work is cause for complaint! No, I never did. I had gotten my $20 worth at that point!

I've never needed a vpn for mine. Used it this morning without the vpn. To setup, I just plugged it into a spare phone then plugged the magicjack into my computer and it prompted me to setup then walked me through. Just keep clicking next until you're done. I set it up here, not in the States and without having my vpn on.

Does anyone know why it's not working for me. Was I suppose to download something to my laptop before I left the US kind of like Skype?

How does it work? OMG I bought one 2 years ago and we tried setting it up but I don't know what happened. My husband told me it doesn't work? So it's been in the cupboard collecting dust ever since

Voip programs are blocked here in the UAE. You'd need a VPN to be able to use it.
