You can confirm this yourself, just go to www.amazon.com and compare with www.amazon.co.uk

My SO registered his Kindle with a UK account/home address and I registered mine with a US account/home address. I haven't had any issues with purchases on my US account, however his Kindle will send him messages every now and again noting that he needs to switch his account to the country he resides in (ie. the UAE) at which point he then has trouble purchasing books. This has happened a few times and needless to say, is aggravating.
I don't know if anyone else has had this problem with purchasing books while in the UAE from the UK store and how they got around it? If it's a not uncommon problem with the UK store, might be something to consider when deciding between US & UK accounts.

It's very easy to toggle between the two if you see a book you want that's available on one site and not the other.

If you have a credit card for both places then just swap between them as needed. That's what I do for my downloads for iPad.

Kindle has no shipping cost.
If you are looking at buying traditional books online try bookdepository.co.uk
It has free shipping worldwide

if you stay with the UK site there are lots of titles that you will not be able to buy....there is more choice and availability going through the US

When I registered mine, I registered with the UK as I had to give a postal address. My kindle automatically registered me in Dubai even though I was registered with Amazon UK, this caused a few teething problems. Once registered in UK I now have a great selection of books which are very reasonably priced. Be warned it is completely addictive!

Hi, I would stick with UK if you have an account there. I changed to Amazon .com when I arrived here and had loads of trouble finding books. Swapped back to UK account using a UK address and bank account and no problem at all now. Hope you get sorted x

Calling all Kindle users - having read through the various Kindle threads, I still have a question: should I register on the UK or the US Amazon site to purchase books? It looks like you can switch between the two, but thought I'd check if one site has a wider selection of books available, is less expensive, etc before committing to one or the other (Kindle was purchased in the UK if that matters, but I have accounts on both the UK and the US sites - which is causing untold problems in terms of registering, for some reason!).
