OP - I have recently done this and it is very straightforward.

If you are a British citizen and this is a renewal with no name or status change, then use the smart form as it is simple and speeds up the process

http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/passports1/apply/new/

and the notes for helping you fill in the smart form are comprehnesive and easy to understand, I suggest you print them off and refer to them as you fill in the form

http://www.fco.gov.uk/resources/en/pdf/travel-living-abroad/passports/passport-smart-form-guidance.pdf

Basically if you fufill the criteria above there are very few sections you have to complete, each time you answer no to a question (are you changing name etc) whole pages are then blanked out and you move to the next section. Basically I had to fil in the name and address section, the details of previous passport section and the next of kin. Once completed print it off and sign Also print off the creditcard form and fill that in.

You do not need documents (if straightforward renewal) just the phots that do not need to be attested. It is useful to print off the photo guidelines that are on the site as apparantley a lot of applications are rejected because the photos do not meet the guidelines.

Put it all in an envelope with the Dsseldorf address and take to a DHL office. You can pay an extra fee for fast next day delivery. You can also pay a 10 DH fee which means they will send you a text once your passport is delivered and signed for. The whole process took just over 3 weeks for me. HTH

ETA - sorry mant to say that the only document you need is the orignal passport of course

UK must be among the few countries here that have zero consular facilities in the UAE. Other countries manage to provide full consular services to their citizens locally, its a shame and on top of that it costs us double courier fees and a long processing time. So called 3rd world countries have better sevice.

leggi there isn't anywhere like this in Dubai...if there was it would be a non-Brit pretending they knew what they were doing...you'd be better off carefully going though it yourself...you've wasted a day already lol

Thanks ladies, appreciated.

@ chant39 Apparently the place in Oud Metha offer a service whereby they check to ensure you have correctly filled out the forms and have the right supporting documents. Much like the Post office in the UK, so if you can provide me with an actual address that would be great.

@ Goldeelocks I realise it's not rocket science, but I am on a tight time frame and wanted to make sure I do it all right the first time.

The place near Oud Mehta is for visas, I'm not sure they help with passport renewals. Go to this link and you will find the application form you need to fill in:

http://centralcontent.fco.gov.uk/resources/en/pdf/central-content-pdfs/form-c1.pdf

The read this website it will help you complete the form and tell you where and how to send your application:

http://ukingermany.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports/how-to-apply/united-arab-emirates

All passport renewal applications must be sent to Dusseldorf in Germany for processing.

if it's just a renewal it's really not rocket science to fill out the forms...worse case scenario if they're not right they'll return them to you and you start again...as long as you're not too tight on time

I need to get my UK passport renewed and need help with ensuring I fill the forms in correctly. The embassy here no longer deals with the applications, nor are they prepared to help in any way.

There is apparently an agency in Old Mehta, near Lamcy that offer a service similar to the one at the Post office in the UK.

Can anyone give me the actual address or help in any way please??

Many many thanks
