I know MrsCB! Can't believe our babies are 5 months old now. 2 of my best friends have just fallen pregnant so I feel really broody again and ready to go through it all again. Maybe if I read through some of my old posts with all the symptoms I may be put off a few more months haha!

Congratulations, Ayoub what a nice name
Milk supply will get better, just keep trying. Dr Raj of the AH advised me to take Fenugreek supplements to increase my milk supply. It worked very well with me, google it and check whether your doctor is ok with you taking it. All the best and always remember, things will get better )) x

Hi ladies
Thought I would log onto the board as it's been a while. Hope everyone is doing well and congrats to all of those who have already delivered!
I'm still hanging in there - 38w5d today and really hoping baby makes an appearance within the next week. It is getting harder to sleep, with aching legs and general discomfort, heartburn and fatigue and I am just so impatient now to meet my LO! Howevre at the last appointment, the Dr did an exam and there is NO progress so I was a bit disappointed about that.
Thankfully I am on maternity leave now so can relax although I have been doing anything but! I need to slow down and stop traipsing round malls and doing chores at home.
Sending love and good luck to all you ladies, and wishing for smooth deliveries all round.
Please update and post your good news on the board
Hopefully will update soon with my delivery story!

Wow looks like everyone is ready huh
Hassli u r only 37w4d enjoy I am 38w4d and still feel like far away... Tomorrow is my appoint-t and if baby is still breech they ll schedule CS .. Lets see.. Or and all I can recommend is to focus on your breathing during the labour, they say the right breathing helps ease the pain.
TDB I am sorry to hear you had food poisoning. i hope u completely recovered. Drink loads of water. Let us know how your dr appoin-nt went today. If not mistaken our due dates are the same 7th Dec ..?
Moaca i heard only about dr Shiva in Medcare - my colleagues' wives delivered there. What kind of complications you got?
Ladies, who are you greeting with the babies already? I think i am missing something. Has anyone "December due date" delivered?

Congrats to all mommies who had their little ones

Just had my weekly check up with my doctor nirmala of bin sulaiman habib clinic.
She told me that I did a small progress... I finger dilated (don't know how many cm is that.. 1-2cm maybe.. Forgot to asked)... They gave me already the booking form for my delivery at city hospital... It will be a vaginal delivery as per my doctor...

... My baby weights 2.8kg within range and within what my body can handle (I am small lady )

... I'm 37 weeks and 4 days todAy and on look out for possible labour signs during this week..

... On my next check up this coming December 1 (38 weeks and 3 days) my doctor will do a membrame sweep and inshallah will help me to progress more, then if needed she will induced me... I am excited and scared at the same time.. I don't know how my body react to pain.. If I will go for epidural or not.. Hope it will be short labour... Is there any ways we can do to ease the labour like exercise, squatting, s*x.. (Thinking to ask my hubby to do the deed as I read that it will help to open the cervix.... But I'm so tired to do this even )

... My mini nursery is ready set waiting for my baby and my cats are extremely sweet to me... Thinking if they already sense that additional member of the family will be coming soon...

Wish you all the best

Hey Bexter - I'm not sure as I think they need samples (eek!) to prove it...! And then a full blown investigation as it can stay in your system for a few days apparently so it's tough to trace. I had eaten a few things that day so can't pinpoint. I'm sorry your husband isn't well and hope he has recovered. So annoying isn't it, just feeling washed out.

I am off to see the Dr in about an hour to check whether I am dilated or not. I really am hoping that I have made some progress as I'm super impatient and ready to deliver now plus I am at full term!! Fingers crossed!

Congrats to some of the mummies who have already had their darlings! Can't wait to join the club soon! Hope the other ladies-in-waiting are well xxx

Hi Moaca, I'm not sure I can actually recommend as haven't delivered yet, but I am using Dr Ghada Shate from the medca medical centre in JBR. If you look at other posts, there have been some mention of medcare hospital obstetricians (I think dr shiva is one).. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Dangerous blonde, when you have food poisoning here do you complain to the restaurant? My husband has it really badly from a curry last night but is there anything we can do? In the uk I'd complain and expect some sort of compensation. Thanks!

Just thought I would share what I saw in the Dubai Babies Store today as I am so excited to have found them here now in Abu Dhabi...Little Impressions! I don't know about you but I have used the do it yourself kits before and didn't get on with it but the sales staff informed me that next week someone will be in the shop to take the impressions of your babies for you. I will definitely be paying a visit after Xmas...6 weeks and counting!

Hey Ladies
Bit of a scare yesterday - I contracted really bad food poisoning which lasted from 8am yesterday morning to 2am this morning. Severe cramping which I thought might be contractions and couldn't keep any food down, as well as being massively dehydrated, so my DH called the hospital who advised we go straight in to hospital (I read dehydration can cause early labour). City were brilliant and examined me / the baby and she was fine and not ready to come out, but admitted me at 3:30am for an overnight stay to rehydrate me and keep an eye. I was discharged mid morning after a few drips. Nice way to spend the long weekend! I'm really confident now about the hospital, they were amazing, the room was lush and the midwives were lovely.
Only 2 more weeks of work to go and I'm really struggling to get through it, all I want to do is hibernate at home as I get so tired. 4 weeks til DD! Hope everyone is feeling well xxx

Glad to hear that you are doing well.

I have just over 5 weeks till DD and like you I am excited and scared at the same time but really can’t wait till he arrives.

Yes we did meet on the 20th and have done a few times so should join us at one of the meet ups.

Sounds like you have loads of energy and have been up to lots of nice things.

I have my next appointment on the 22nd so they will do a scan and internal check, hope baby drops by then as I want him on time.

Hope you all have a nice 3 day weekend and will catch up soon

Hello ladies.
Cant believe we r getting closer to a Big Day. Mixed feelings - excited and scared at the same time..
How was your meeting on Oct 20? Did all of you meet? I was planning to come but the day before we went for overnight camping and came back on 20th at 2pm soo tired. Are you planning to meet again?
I had two baby showers both were surprises 1 from colleagues 2nd organized by close friends. Both times almost fainted from the shock )). Got huge diapers cake and beautiful bouquet of flowers made of tiny socks and bibs which till now feel bad to destroy )) so kept as is till the time comes.
We moved to weekly appointments. The latest was on Saturday. I am on 36w5d. The baby havent dropped yet thou being so active and moving a lot , thanks God .
On Friday we went to Dreamland aqua park where i allowed myself to enjoy only dead sea pool and a bit of waves ))) Or and forgot to mention that went to Barasti for the Halloween party dressed as a witch and some of guys (strangers to me) came to ask whether the belly was real or part of the costume Lol!!! I shouldnt be wondering why my baby is active right

Hope things are better for you now Hassli and Buckeye. Things are drawing closer now! My husband has just returned from the UK with all our newborn clothes etc which were stored in my sister's attic! I now feel like I am ready if I do go into labour! (Except for the issue of not yet being a resident).
Dangerous blonde, antenatal classes are a help aren't they! You sound very organised! Hope you manage the labour you want. I am also hoping to go through without pain relief (haven't had any in the past) but each labour is different. Medcare hospital doesn't seem very well set up for natural birth! Delivery room was very clinical with hospital bed. No bean bags etc like natural birth suites in UK! Not sure if other hospitals are different?
Good luck everyone. Congratulations Mrs Wriggles.

Hassli I wish you better and hope you manage to rest up and reach 37 weeks - how exciting it's getting so close now!!!

Buckeye how frustrating to wait around all that time only to have such a brief appointment. I think they are supposed to check how effaced you are, if you're dilated etc at these final appointments. I have one tomorrow at City so will let you know what she did so you can compare (I am 35w 1d)

HUGE congrats to Mrs Wriggles who delivered last week!!! Please tell us your birth story and how it went, and a massive welcome to your darling baby girl to the world.

So I went to antenatal class yesterday (1 day class) and now feel so much more ready and confident now I know all the different kinds of pain relief available and I'm actually going to try and tough it out with just Gas and Air / Pethidine. We'll see of course, I might be a total wimp but if I can get through the labour and reach transition without I'm going to try and go all the way! Hospital bag is sitting by the front door (champers is inside lol!), baby seat installed and pram's already in the car, delivery suite number saved and newborn photographer is waiting to hear from me so I feel so impatient now for these next few weeks to pass!!! Can't wait to hear as more of us all deliver, wishing everyone luck and healthy babies xxx

Hi ladies

Yes, we are getting nearer

I have weird discharge with spots of blood this week and it become a bit more since yesterday lunch and went to my new doctor around 5 for vaginal examination. She said, that the I have a small opening in my cervix that's why I am leaking some water from the amniotic fluid.. So she recommend that I need to be admitted to city hospital with the possibility for emergency CS if the leak didn't stop.

I was put for bed rest, had 2 steroids shot, 3 antibiotic to prevent the strep b entering the baby all for precaution.. Good thing this morning my leak stops and no traces of new leaks / blood.. I was Discharge this afternoon and put to bed rest.

Hospital experience is so nice.. First we went to the adminssion office ground floor, the doctor already bring the insurance request for approval so less waiting time in the admission office. They put me on the labour room and check baby's heartbeat and any signs of contractions. No contractions and baby heartbeat are all fine.. Long interview about history (medical) and the midwife Sarah is so helpful and so friendly. Then after an hour to two, they transfer us to the recovery for observation and further monitoring.

Food are nice, consumables are free and part of the room rate I guess.. Didn't pay anything when we are discharge.. Maternity dress is available.. Husband sleep in the sofa / bed..

Hope to deliver my baby atleast after the 37weeks, I am 35 weeks and 1 day, 2 more weeks for me so they will consider tha baby as full term. I might not reach December but who knows when my baby boy would like to come out good thing I have only I More week then I will be off

Take care

Good morning Buckeye,

Yes it IS getting exciting now! I have about 30 days to EDD but my dr is talking about inducing a week to 10 days early to possibly only another 3 weeks... lets see! Have been absolutely fine with regards to labour up until the last week or so but starting to feel a little apprehensive now due to certain medication Im on that may have an impact on the labour. That is making me a little anxious but Im sure all will be fine.

My Dr appointments are every week now since last week and every time she does a quick scan... just to take measurements, baby weight and check heartbeat but it IS reassuring. Maybe you could request an appointment next week if you think that may put your mind at rest? And possibly request a scan before then too - not sure if they can refuse..?

Hope all the other December ladies are doing well... not long to go now!

Well , according to the EDD we have 24 days to go... Can't figure out if I'm more excited or nervous yet...going with the no fear approach to labor though. I've got my mind set that I can do t his, just like every other woman has before me...even if it's about 8000 miles from my comfort zone. Yesterday I had a checkup at the Corniche Hospital...after waiting for 4 1/2 hrs (which would have been more had I not complained at the 3hr mark), I had my 7.3 min of time with the doctor. Btw, seriously miss doc/patient confidentiality here because if I'd wanted a party in the room, I would have sent invitations. Anyway, my point, after all that waiting, I was only weighed, BP taken, baby's heartbeat checked, and the doc pushed on my stomach. Isn't there supposed to be more done? Next appointment is in 2 weeks and a scan is scheduled. Seriously? At 39 weeks, we're going to do a scan? I'm thinking I'll get told by the sonographer "yes, she's in the birth canal, aren't you feeling a bit uncomfortable?" At least I have the day off work to rest due to pure exhaustion and lack of sleep due to increased pressure...baby dropped....hungry ALL the time...and difficulty sleeping....any day now

Thanks Bexter, knew you would know

I think I will introduce the bottle for daytime feeds as that's when I will be at work so I'd like to get her used to my DH feeding her or the maid. Will definitely try to establish BF-ing as well, let's see how it goes. I will get some Aptamil as well just in case.

Am starting to freak as since the last 2 days I'm having cramps quite low. Apparently this is all normal and I have a checkup on Monday but it can also be a sign of early labour :S!!!

Thanks Bexter for the useful info on bottle feeding. Since I will be going back to work at 2.5 months, I will need my baby to be bottle fed during the day so I intend to start her asap to get her used to it. Now here's another question - is it OK to give her formula in the day while I'm at work and then breastfeed her when I get home / night / early mornings? Will she accept a mixture? I am thinking of pumping but there is nowhere at work to pump (apart from the toilet!) What do you think? Appreciate your advice, thanks!

Yes you can definitely do a mixture if you want to. Your body will produce milk at the times you use it! You do need to make sure you have established Breastfeeding first as it's harder to go back to that. It can take a few weeks to feel that's under control! Then introduce the bottle at certain times of day. Your body will produce less milk at that time but continue to produce it at the times you want to use it. May take some perseverance. Pumping is time consuming and quite hard to manage with work! We can talk more when we next meet if you like. My sister used a formula feed at around 10pm every night from when the baby was a few weeks old and then breast fed when he woke later in the night. That way, she could go to bed at 9ish!

Newmom9, if you search on a website like babycentre you will find lists of essentials for baby, hospital, etc. Everything you need for a new baby. Otherwise, there are some posts on here too. Good luck!

Hi Ladies,

So glad I registered to EW and found this forum. I just started my 36wk and am getting freaked out thinking I am not prepared. I am so confused on what to buy before the baby comes. Plz share what all you have shopped so far and from where. I plan to finish off my shopping within the next 2 weeks.

Thanks....
