Thanks. Def expensive lol. If got certain springs areas we could get by by on one car do again save money.
Hopefully we budgeting hard and may find that we can increase our rental costs next year but better to be safe than sorry.
We maybe could stretch to 120k but that worries me- would rather play safe.
Thanks for advice.
Where do your kids school?

I would not contemplate springs to DESC/dess.
Very tempted by dess/DESC but just not sure where we could live in an affordable area and not loads of driving. Got 3 years of little one in primary.
It is a hard one and the tight finances make it more difficult.
Once we take a lease at springs we burn our boats with dess/desc

I feel you pain, as I said previously people would sacrifice a lot to take a place at DESS/DESC and they would drive from one end of Dubai to the other. DH's housing allowance was reassessed this year, he gets same every month but housing allowance is nearly 30k less, please please build in some contingency rentals could easily rise and there is talk of sch fees rising 10% or more next year. No change at DESC for past 3 years so its looming just like other schools. Personally I feel Dubai us expensive for everything, I have to budget very wisely, it looks like a great monthly salary but boy does it go quickly and wives jobs are hard to find. I wish you good luck x

Are you allowed to say why you/others dislike it ??
We're moving out in the next 3-4 weeks and are still trying to decide the best places to look at

Personally, and in my own opinion (which I will get struck down for) its looking tired, just rows and rows of the same. Our friends live in a 3E, the rooms downstairs are small and the proximity to road noise and pylons I just couldn't live with. Our friends pay 130k and have own pool, you can get a 5 bed detached at the villa for that. Or a well kept Ranches al Reem or Alma, of course it's personal pref but I'd rather live in an apt in the Marina than in springs and that's just my view (battens down the hatches!)

Thanks for that, I'll defend you once we arrive!!
We're looking for somewhere we can keep dogs, but with a budget of 100K max we could be struggling. We don't really need the pools or to be close to schools. As long as DH can drive to Silicon Oasis without too much trouble.

I have to agree with you, from prev threads you say you also have to pay for schooling too, that makes it very tight and the overheads for a villa can mount. You could take a lease at springs for a year and see how you feel. Don't forget springs to DESC will be at least 20 mins in the car then another 15 to DESS, we applied for DBS didn't get a place, but had we I'd've dreaded the drive from Ranches to DBS. Consider wisely what you are willing to sacrifice education or housing.

I think our problem is fact our budget is 95k max and even that is pushing it.
Appreciate springs very small etc but gives us all the facilities that we would struggle to get elsewhere for that price.

@loopy loo. Thanks very much for that . I spoke to a very helpful agent yesterday who had said same thing re springs.
Def said an end terrace and if springs 2 or 3 at back end then kids could walk to school.
Was becoming more and more appealing but slight spanner in works as looked at DESC today and sports facilities are fab. My kids both girls are very sporty. Now trying to convince them that springs closer to beach, community pool and basketball court and loads of opps for sport out of school. My email is feefmick@hotmail.com
I fly back to uk to night. Husband staying here. We plan to move out August.
My eldest wants to know if tennis courts on spri gs.
DESC looks great but I think life could be nicer on springs. Husband works near airport so he will have a bit of hike but better him incar than kids lol

Noticed this lately in Al reem 2, had no idea that it 'might' be people who don't live there!

Hi Feefmick
Up until quite recently we were in a 4E in Springs (I think the rent was 95k due to its position but don't quote me!), are your children the same gender? The 4E's are bigger (I was told) the bedrooms are pretty big and we had bunks for the boys which left a large amount of 'playing space' on the floor. The garden was lovely and stretched all around the side of the house and there is a small study room on the ground floor.

I could have lived there easily if I only had two children, as it is, I have three kids (we had to live there short term whilst company found us a bigger villa) so I had my daughter in the tiny study room (poor thing, i called her Harry Potter ). But with two it would have been absolutely fine, especially as chances are you won't have a huge amount of belongings with you!
But the upstairs rooms are very generous in size. We were in Springs 2 and literally 2 mins from the pool.

I know it feels like an uphill battle at the moment (and believe me, I too thought is it easier just for me to stay in the UK and have my happy little life!) and its been up and down but now we're all settled I am really happy here. If you want to contact me to chat about anything I can give you my email address

A lot of residents have dogs in a lot of the complexes. We are in Mirabella and a lot of our neighbours have dogs and there is lots of space for them. We have a 3 bed for 80k so try a different agent as we had a choice of properties for this price.

Taxi got very lost. 90 Durham from MofE lol. Agent insisted he only had villas in a totally unfinished , unlive in area.
At least I now have idea and will push for sth like grand chateau . He tried to tell us his 3 beds there were 130k.
At least it given me an idea

Hope this helps. :-)

Hi
Are the villas and area here ok for people with dogs. We don't have kids to consider, but a couple of dogs.?
Thanks

...oh yes. Saves them money and costs you a fortune, and yes it's bare faced cheek!

There should be a card entry into these facilities or the security need to pull their socks up. Something for the residents' committees to get their teeth into I think.

ETA Meant to post this in your JVT thread. Bear in mind the beach at JBR is free and a 15min car journey away. The jumeriah islands club is 50aed/day for pool and gym use. Wouldn't let lack of pool influence your decision too much as there ways round everything. Beside sunless your local pool at home is less than a 5min walk away not really sure what difference it will make to the kids. Its good to have everything on your wishlist realised especially when moving to a new country but the pro's of being here far outweigh the con's (IMO).

So nice to know Nutty that when I cant get a sunbed at my pool in Arabian Ranches that its because everyone from JVT is sitting on them!

Yes I wanna say the same, I use to live in alma and when they put the new pool in everyone used it and me and te kids that lived across the rd cold never get a sun bed.
We pay maintence charges for these pools ts really not acceptable people can just walk in and have the right to use the pools.
