I've been juicing and making smoothies for three years now. I have done many juice fasts, I normal don't do it for more than a week though, some people go longer and thats fine. I make sure my juices have plenty of greens in, especially celery as its high in electrolytes. You can drink as much as you like when juice fasting the idea is not to feel hungry. Always start you day with a green juice, and then followed by fruit juices mixed with greens, the last juices of the day should be vegetable juices. Don't mix fruit and vegetables together.

I suppose if the juices contain enough low glyceamic fruits like apples and plenty of veggies it will prevent a sugar spike. Vegetable juice can be kept for some time in the fridge. By the way I am not using a fancy juicer machine but simply a hand held blender that you may use for soups and I carry it around easily with me, so perhaps you could do that? I find if I am well prepared by chopping/ grating all my veg in advance and keep in a container in the fridge, it only takes seconds to blend up a juice. Easier if you are working perhaps?

oh noooo :-( thats bad news then for me. i had no idea. so you think i would be doing myself more harm than actually it being healthy that way? I might still try for a few days and see how I feel.
Bought 4 juices from Joga earlier for the whole day and so far not been very hungry nor craving solid food after 1,5 juices.
Happy juicing everyone that is joining this process :-)

the only concerns I would have about any pre bought or pre made juice that contains fruit is that fruit, after its juiced, is good for about half an hour before it starts to convert into pure sugar so I drink mine immediately. Unless its only veg juice which should keep much longer.
I started to juice today and so far feeling really good. So nice not to have to think about what to eat for lunch and dinner and have told the Dh he can have Chillis every night if he fancies as I aint cooking. Im having small glasses of protein drink in between juices to keep amino levels up which may be like cheating?

was also just thinking about these juice bars like Joga Juice. They only use fresh fruit and veg right?
If I were to pick up juice from them every morning for the day, can anyone tell me how much i should have per day? I have found website suggesting anything between 1,5 to 2,5 litres.
Also which Joga Juice Bar or any other Juice Bar for that matter is closest to Park n Shop / Safa Park?

I am so keen to start a juice detox now. Did one years back only for a few days but want to go for 12 days now. Yesterday I came across this website http://detox-delight.ae/ They deliver the juice for each day for you but i find it way too expensive as it would cost me 6520aed for 12 days. Any comments on that? I called them to ask for a discount or if they would have a groupon deal o.s. coming up soon but they said not even the smallest discount was possible and no deals are planned for the future.
By any chance is anyone starting their own juice diet and wants to make double portions and sell them? My main concern about the detox is shopping for and making the juice every day rather than drinking juice for 12 days.
Would be fantastic if someone is interested to make a little extra :-) and if so please email me to ckokolores (atyahoodotcom)

Hi Ladies
I watched Fat, Sick, and nearly Dead movie (a Joe cross film) late last year and since then have been following a juice plan on and off.
I find the 10 day is great just to give your body a break and re boot it self. I'd love to go longer but I find this is the easiest to follow. When you stop 100% juicing you find yourself naturally eating more veggies and fruits and whole foods rather than processed. I always have some juice in the fridge I find it a great snack for the times you feel like something in between meals.
If you have havnt watched the movie you MUST

For anyone of the ladies that were interested in the juice fasting, I am into my 3rd day now, and have lost 3 kilos! Yes I know it is mostly water, but I feel so much better! I am not really doing this just for weight loss, but to give my body a break from all the processed foods. I have not had any of the detox symptoms they talk about, yet, but I really think it is because I am drinking my weight in water! I hope, God willing, I can continue for atleast 7 more days maybe more if I can stand it.

Yes, the Organic Grocery in Dubai Mall. Chia also has the fiber you need!

One tip from the Reboot site is to add Chia seed. It has a lot of protein, and thickens the juice up a bit.
Hope to do another one over the summer - when I'm not cooking for dh! Buckeye, do you know where I will find Chia seed? And what is the best Fiber Supplement available in dubai I could add to some of the juices?

I think there's a good chance you'll find it at the organic market on Saturday morning at Dubai Garden Centre.

christelkoko wrote: Do you actually blend some fruit and veggies or must it all go into the juicer?
It is good to do both according to the reboot website......
Smoothies Equipment: Blender Price: There are lots of good ones on the market and most are inexpensive Process: Load up the blender with clean, fresh or frozen fruits, veggies like green leafys (swiss chard or spinach for example) and liquid like coconut water. Off your Reboot try almond, hemp or soy milk, cacao nibs or chia seeds for fun. Benefits: Phytonutrients found in the skin and flesh of fruits and veggies. Loads of fiber from the whole fruit and vegetables. Fiber is important for regulating blood sugar, keeping bowels regular, aiding in hunger control, may help prevent certain types of cancers. Juicing Equipment: Juicer/juice extractor Price: Varies ($99-399) Process: Push clean produce (fruits and veggies) through the chute. For more tips and ideas visit: http://jointhereboot.com/reboot-program/the-reboot-standard/during-your-reboot-standard/ Benefits: Juicing removes the insoluble fibers (but the soluble fiber remains in the juice). Important micronutrients typically more difficult to absorb become accessible. These nutrients include digestive enzymes and certain phytonutrients. In the end, including both smoothies and fresh juice can be a healthy and delicious way to boost the amount of micronutrients in your diet.

I have a Jack Lalanne's Power Juicer that I love, but it is in storage back home. I plan on bringing it back with me when we go on vacation. For now I bought one at Carrefoure to hold me until I can bring my nicer one. But CF has a lot to choose from 65 to 800 aed. Mine is a Black n Decker on sale for 129aed. It is doing the job for now, but my Jack laLanne juicer gets a whole lot more juice out of my fruits and veggies! It is very easy to clean, but I do have to chop a bit as the opening is small.

Ive been to The Sancuary twice : http://www.thesanctuarythailand.com/ and my friend has been to a newer one on Koh Samui island which would be their direct competition. Its expensive by Thai standards but cheap compared to Dubai. Dont think 'Jumairah resort' - but rather lower your expectations to more hammock-backpacker style place as the accommodation is very basic but very clean and I always felt great there. Usually the package include yoga everyday, spa treatments and they have a weird outdoor steam room too. Nothing to do but while away the hours in the sea. Everyone comes there exclusively for the detox and Ive done 7 and 9 days at a time and always come away cleansed energised and feeling great. Yes two colonics a day which i got used to very quickly and which had excellent (and productive :-) results, and everyone comes together in evenings to eat watery broth together and watch a DVD. You are on a tight schedule with pills (strong herbs) or probiotics or juices with physillium husks (major fibre) every 1.5 hours so if felt like being in a hospital and reporting for our meds en masse at the juice counter and then relax back into hammocks :-) Ha. Its quite far away from anything - no cars or ATMS, etc and you need to take a little water taxi boat to next bay to buy stuff and get cash out. Its a real retreat from the world. Very very basic tho. But I met amazing people who were all travelling solo from somewhere or other. A few people come with serious bowel and digestive problems to get cleaned out. Worms, parasites and even old bugs from previous food poisoning episodes can be removed. I wish I could go back ... Before doing it you need to prepare by cutting out loads of bad foods (they tell you) and give yourself time to come back so you dont blow it after with a big brunch ! I took 2 weeks to do a total 9 day fast. The herbs and treatment are in accordance with Dr Andersons Cleanse Thyself treatment and to get rid of the damaging mucoid build up in the intestines : http://cleanse.net/mucoidplaque.aspx They also use another Belguim doctors treatment meds but I cant remember that guys name. Let me know if you go and how you find it all ! You may find the newer one on Koh Samui a bit better , less rugged, but I would still go always go back to Sanctuary as I know it works.

I am on day 2 of my 14 day juice fast. I am feeling fine so far, no headaches yet, but I cannot stop going to the T.....! I dont know how you did a 7 day juice fast and had problems with this! I was told that the first few days you will go a lot, but then it will taper off and that fiber should be added. I will look for maxicol tonight when I go shopping. But for now I cant imagine taking it! My juice today is: Parsley, Spinach, Celery, Carrotts, Tomatoes(just a cpl), small onion, and 1 garlic clove. Was attempting a V* type juice but doesnt NOT taste like the commercial v8 we are use to. It tastes like liquid salad! Its manageable. I think tomorrow i will do something with watermelon and gives myself a bit of a sweet flavor.

a juicing fast is also really good for the whole system and overall health. The digestive system is generally over worked (just processing lactose, bread etc products can tire our the liver for example) and so if we do regular juice fasts the rest of the body has time to repair , heal and rest itself and this helps improve overall immunity against disease and slows ageing. Provided its not too sugary - lots of veggies : carrots, cabbage, greens x 10, leaves, herbs esp parsley, ginger, lemons, celery. Watermelon is a good fruit to use as its most gentle on the system. I did two full detoxes in Thailand before and watermelon was the only fruit juice we were allowed for that reason.

The Organic shop in Dubai Mall has chia seed. Maxicol is a good fibre supplement. It has probiotics in it aswell. Most pharmacies have it or the Nutrition shop in Jumeira Town Centre also has it and a good selection of other things too.
