We have our children at a French school. I am Australian. I don't know much about the Canadian school system but assume that since people are saying that the American or British curriculum schools are a good fit that it is not too different to those school systems. The French school system is very very different to both the British and American school system. What Vagabonda says about the French schools is definitely true but I think that if you are looking for an easy return to the Canadian school system for your daughter, then the French school system is not going to be suitable.

I have to say though the the kindergarten (maternelle) at the French schools is excellent and in my opinion you could definitely consider sending your daughter to maternelle and then swapping to an American or British curriculum for Grade 1.

You could consider one of the French schools: Lycee Francais Georges Pompidou or Lycee Francais International de Dubai. Both are difficult to get into, but citizens of French-speaking countries are prioritized. LFID offer English instruction 3 or 4 times a week starting 3 years old and most of the children are bi or trilingual.

British Curriculum is great! Especially for early years. I am a Canadian myself and if cost is no issue I would go for JPS, JESS or ASD.

Hope this helps

Loads of Canadians at the American schools in Dubai. Three most popular are:
Dubai American Academy
Universal American School
American School of Dubai

We're Canadian and put ours at Repton. We knew one other parent who is a teacher in Canada and their kids went to BC schools and given his understanding of the Canadian curriculum wasn't concerned at all. They were at Repton too

edited for spelling!

HI.
We are a Canadian family with a 2 year old daughter. It appears we should be putting her name down for school!!! But where do us Canadians fit with the different curriculums!?!?! We do plan to be moving back to Canada so we want her to obviously not be behind or learning very different things.
We live in Al Barsha 1 and have heard some good things about DAA (lots of Canadian Teachers) but have heard that even though JESS is a British Curriculum it is amazing school. Will it matter if she learns in a british system in the early years?
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
