Doha Modern Indian School

Doha Modern Indian School (DMIS) , is the brainchild of well-known industrialist, business tycoon and philanthropist Mr. Mohammed Taleb Al-Khouri of the Taleb Group of Companies, Doha-Qatar. DMIS is one of the three schools under the Taleb banner that is striding ahead in its endeavour to create global citizens.

The school is also being steered in the right direction by the visionary zeal and tireless efforts of the Director of the school, Mr. Jayashankar Pillai. He leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the needs of the student. It is his determination and devotion which has helped the school attain this prestige and reputation in such a short span of time.

The emphasis at DMIS is on education within the classroom and beyond. We offer quality education and follow the CBSE syllabus. The school is directly under the supervision of the Supreme Education Council, State of Qatar. The academic year at DMIS consists of two terms. The first term commences in April and continues till September. The second term is from October to March. We are committed to following the continuous and comprehensive evaluation of the students as stipulated by the CBSE.

Curriculum

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), New Delhi, and prepares students for the All India Senior School Certificate Examinations (Grade XII).

The curriculum is designed to be in keeping with the latest educational trends and techniques and offers a wide variety of practical application avenues that makes it both challenging and rewarding. As a quality school, our aim is to develop each of its students to achieve excellence and realize their full potential in an environment of encouragement and acceptance.

The Day Boarding system for Grade 3 and above makes the school unique in character. The system incorporates academics in the morning followed by lunch, and an Afternoon Self-Improvement Programme (ASIP) that includes a supervised study-session and co-curricular activities.

For lunch, well-balanced, nourishing vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is served, while maintaining a high standard of hygiene. Table etiquette is inculcated as the Principal and the teaching faculty dine with the students.

This is followed by a session of study. Under the watchful supervision of the teachers, the students complete their assignments. Students who require special academic assistance are given remedial classes.

The next session explores the varied interest of students through dedicated clubs and popular games to develop inherent skills and talents. Club activities comprise a variety of performing and visual arts, quiz, drama, declamation and elocution. Sports and games include aerobics, athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, gymnastics, karate, swimming, table tennis, throw ball and yoga.

For our younger children in the KG and Grades 1 and 2, we provide the stay-back, day-care facility in an organized creche. The children will be in the constant care of a trained Teacher Assistant supported by lady attendants. Sustaining and appetizing refreshment is provided. Fun-filled and stimulating activities fill the time spent here.

For the secondary and senior secondary students, rigorous afternoon classes are arranged for two hours on all school days.

Facilities

The centrally air conditioned multipurpose hall creates a welcoming environment and provides a pleasant meeting place for students and teachers. The academic facilities are designed to include libraries, banks of computers online permanently, well equipped laboratories, art studio, well designed stage, music room, audio visual room and auditorium that can accommodate a large number of people. In a similar manner the co-curricular program too has a wide range of facilities. The spacious playground, athletic track, cricket and football fields, a well shaded aquatic complex, indoor basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton courts.

Students availing day boarding facilities enjoy journalism, quiz, art, craft, cooking, yoga, karate, swimming, scouting, guiding, football, cricket and tennis coaching after academic hours.

Admissions Process

Nothing written will ever replace the reality of a visit. Please feel free to make an appointment to come and visit us during the school working hours, and absorb the vibrancy and excitement that exists in DMIS.

Registration can be made in person, by e-mail, fax or post. All forms, that are required for registration can be downloaded from the website.

The minimum permissible age for admission to Kindergarten is 3 years as on 31st March. There are no formal entrance tests for Kindergarten. However, an interview with parents and students may be required.
Admission process

Enquiry form: Collect enquiry form from the Reception [+974 44583121 / 22]. Fill in and submit this form immediately.

Prospectus: Meet the Registrar [+974 55532478] / Secretary to better acquaint yourself about the school and buy a prospectus against a payment of QR 50.

Registration: Submit your admission documents, duly-filled in, to the Registrar. After the Registrar has verified your documents, proceed to the Accounts office and pay an Assessment Fee of QR 100.
Assessment Test /Interview : Your child will be requested to attend a written test and / or an interview either immediately or at a fixed time and date. Check with the Registrar regarding the date of the test.

Confirmation: As soon as the test/interview results are declared the Registrar will confirm the grade to which your child will be admitted.

Transport: If you are opting for school transport, meet up with the Transport Supervisor and get your transport form endorsed with a proper location map. Your request will remain on hold if transport is not immediately available.

Admission Fees : Pay the admission fee of QR 300/- at the Cash Counter and sign the fee declaration form.

Refundable Caution deposit: Pay QR 500/-. This will be refunded when the student leaves the school. Admission process will be completed only on payment of Admission Fee, Caution Deposit & Term Fee.

The Final Step : Show your school fees (Term) receipt to the Registrar, who will guide you on what to do next.
Uniforms (2 sets of basic uniforms) , 1 set of PE uniform from Grade 1 onwards & text books covered in the 1st term fees can be collected from the school's store by producing the original fee receipt.
Other items can be purchased against payment from school's store.

Identity Card: Collect your child's Bus Card/ID Card which will be given for the next academic year and the Class Record Form from the Registrar on the date specified. Your child needs to display his/her bus card to access school transport and hand over the class record form to the class teacher on the first day of school.

Errors:In case of an entry error with respect to grade, transport, lunch or creche, kindly contact the Registrar. All other corrections will be made by the class teacher concerned.

Withdrawal Procedures: One month's notice, prior to the commencement of the new term, is required for withdrawal of the child from the school / discontinuation of school transport. Irrespective of the month in which the child is withdrawn / stops using school transport, tuition / transport fees for the full term needs to be paid.
