Newton British School

Newton British School is a vibrant and caring school for children from Pre School through to Year 6. We are proud to be part of the Newton International Schools group which goes fom strength to strength every year.
At NBS we strive to bring out the best in everyone and we all continue to learn on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on continually developing our thinking to create a modern, innovative school experience for each and every child. Our teachers are dedicated and qualified professionals with a wealth of varied experience, some of whom are pursuing further qualifications in education.

Academic achievement is important to us but equally important is the development of the whole child. Independent thought, strength of character and teamwork are also incredibly important. We promote these core values on a daily basis and the combination of opportunities offered makes NBS a unique school with a warm atmosphere.

Curriculum

Newton British School offers tuition from Preschool to Year 6 following the National Curriculum of England and Wales. All planning follows the British Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. We are accredited with the University of Cambridge and are currently working towards AdvancEd accreditation. We offer an emphasis on English, Mathematics and Science as well as lessons in ICT, French/Arabic, Music, Design Technology and PE. Islamic Studies is also offered in either Arabic or English.

Our Pre-school and Reception classes follow The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Profile which came into force in the UK in September 2008. It is the framework for the provision of learning, development and care for children between birth and the academic year in which they turn five (0-5 years).

School facilities include a Library, ICT room, a large Gymnasium, Music room as well as a swimming pool (swimming is included as part of the PE curriculum). There are also interactive whiteboards in each of the classrooms.

Newton British School offers a secure, caring and stimulating learning environment with appropriately qualified teachers familiar with the British curriculum and experienced in an international educational setting.

All year groups have detailed medium term plans in place and detailed weekly plans are completed by class teachers on a weekly basis.

EYFS consists of Pre-school and Reception
Key Stage One consists of Years 1 and 2
Key Stage Two consists of Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Admissions Procedure

Admission is based on past school records, an entrance assessment, and in some cases, an interview and an English proficiency test. Newton British school admits qualified students on a first come, first serve basis.

Application Procedure:

Complete this form and return it to the School office together with:

1) Passport photographs x3
2) Copy of passport including child's residence visa
3) Report from previous school in English
4) Copy of Parents’ passports and Qatar ID card (both father and mother)
5) Copy of child’s immunisation record

Applicants applying to enter Newton British School are required to successfully complete an Entrance Test appropriate to the child’s year group. This test is based on Literacy and Numeracy.

1) A non-refundable test fee must be paid before a test date will be scheduled (credit or debit card payment only).
2) On the date of the scheduled test, you should bring your receipt as proof of payment.
3) Should you cancel the scheduled test and/or your application to the school, the test fee will not be refunded.
4) You will be advised by email and/or telephonically whether the school can offer your child a place.

To confirm your acceptance of the offer, you must visit the School Office to pay the Registration Fee. Failure to pay the registration fee by the date to be specified will result in the place being offered to an alternative child.
