Major Al Kharaitiyat Interchange Opens in Doha
While the contruction on Qatar's roads have caused a lot of traffic, the end goal is to relieve traffic immensely.
A new interchange in north of Doha has just opened and it will make it easier for drivers to get to many parts of the country, including the soon-to-open Doha Festival City
The Kharaitiyat Interchange on Al Shamal Road will shorten travel times
between Doha and many areas, including Lusail, Al Rayyan, Al Wajba, Bani Hajer and Leabib.
Drivers will benefit from three to four lanes
in each direction as well as eight bridges
. Previously, there was only a single two-lane bridge. That means the capacity of the road has now quadrupled
, allowing for up to 16,000 vehicles an hour.
Motorists will be happy to know that it’s also a free-flowing junction, so there are no road signals or roundabouts
to go through.
