Qatar Jobs - Graphic Designer
Locally based candidates only. This is a non-sponsored position that requires all applicants to already have family based sponsorship to live and work in Qatar.
This position requires the incumbent to manage and oversee the printing of designed items on behalf of Georgetown University at various local and regional printers. They will visit vendors and make adjustments to designs, images and other digital and print collateral to make sure all items meet the high quality standards required of School of Foreign Service in Qatar.
Responsibilities :
- Helps to create and maintain the visual style guide of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar.
- Provides concept development, design and execution of print publications. Duties include: graphic design, providing print specifications, pre-press and press check
- Prepares graphics and images for multiple web and print applications
- Develops intros, outros and titling for video and motion graphic related projects
- Adjusts and uploads visual content to Georgetown SFSQ websites, social media sites and other venues as appropriate
- Participates as an integral part of communications team, ensuring good quality design and high level customer satisfaction service standards are met
- Contributes ideas, processes, critique and discussion for best uses of visual communication collateral in reaching the intended target audience and goals
- Creates the appropriate aesthetic direction of publications, annual reports, newsletters, brochures in accordance with graphic standards and desired call to action from specific target audience(s)
- Maintains file management system, project archives, and procedural manuals as needed to reflect the operations of the department.
- Operates within the defined deadlines for each project
- Collaborates with internal and external clients, writer and supervisor to bring clarity and accuracy to content as necessary
- Photographs or art directs photography/videography as needed to develop original photography and video for use in designed reports, newsletters, brochures, promotions videos and print and video advertising
- Requests quotations from printers and vendors and processes purchase requests in a timely manner conforming to all university financial guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned and needed beyond those explicitly stated here for the benefit of the department and the university.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or visual communications or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and the Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems
- Excellent design and typography skills
- Excellent organization skills and ability to work with competing deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work within a cooperative structure working toward aggressive timelines
- Positive attitude and desire to be in a customer service oriented environment
- Ability to work with a diverse campus population and adapt to a variety of work styles
- Ability to take initiative and be driven toward excellence in all projects.
