Welcome to March!

Women Today running for themselves and for othersThe weather is still great so make the most of it by getting out and about in Qatar.  Camping in the desert is great this time of year, stretch your legs along the Corniche or take a day trip to the beach.  The temperature is slowly creeping up and indeed this year we didn’t see much of a ‘winter’ in Doha.  Yes I know I saw several people sporting jumpers, jackets, scarves, and earmuffs at one point, but really was that necessary?!  It only ever got as cold as a UK summer!

I have really felt the heat these past few weeks as February saw me take part in two runs around Doha.  The 5k Terry Fox run, known as the ‘Marathon of Hope’ in support of cancer research took place on the 12th February at the College of North Atlantic.  It was a great day in aid of a very worthy cause and it’s fantastic to think that all funds raised through the run will be kept here in Qatar to assist with research and to aid cancer patients. Woman Today also organised a mini marathon on the 20th to promote healthy habits, a holistic lifestyle, and getting fit. Over 300 women participated in the run which was held around Aspire.  It was one of the hottest days of the year so far, and believe me, it felt like it!  It actually shocks me that I can write about myself, and running, in the same sentence as before I came to Doha I wouldn’t even run for a bus!  However with the encouragement of friends here I started running and now there’s literally no stopping me!  Thanks for all your support ladies, you know who you are.  See anything is possible in Doha!

Cathy our hostess with the mostest at the Dados spa morningOne lucky expatwoman winner at the Dados Spa morningFebruary however wasn’t all about running, hey you need to rest and recuperate too!  ExpatWoman had a wonderful morning at dados where 20 ladies had exclusive use of the salon and were pampered with mini treatments, delicious nibbles and fresh juices.  Well done to our lucky winner who won a haircut and blow-dry with Trisha and thanks to our wonderful hostess with the mostess, Cathy. Make sure you check out the gallery to see if you were ex-papped!

Just to be sure that I was fully recovered from my running I also jumped at the chance  to review the new spa at the Grand Hyatt, and oh how wonderful it was! The gorgeous spa at the Grand Hyatt, Qatar. Read Lisas review and you could be a lucky winnerRead my review and enter our great competition to be in with a chance of winning yourself a massage!

Expat Woman could also be seen dining at Rocca, the newest restaurant at the Grand Hyatt, on the February GNO.  It wasn’t quite warm enough to sit outside and dine ‘al fresco’ but the ladies still tucked into the finest Mediterranean fare and enjoyed an evening with new and old friends over a glass (or 2!) of cool white wine.  Have a look at the photos of the night in the gallery.

Expatwoman Qatar, girls night out. Were you there? Check out the photosThis month I am organising a Thai cooking course at the Grand Hyatt.  Come along and learn to cook some wonderful authentic dishes and then after working up an appetite conclude the splendid morning with a delicious lunch.  Keep an eye on the website for details and dates or see me at the coffee morning for more information.

Have a great March and keep smiling!
