Dry Night This Weekend for Israa and Miraj

A long weekend is ahead of us to mark the occasion of Israa and Miraj, and we're pretty sure a lot of us are seriously looking forward to it. But before you go planning a jam-packed, fun-filled weekend, bear in mind that there will be a dry spell during it.

For those of you who was looking forward to a drink or two, just FYI: Sunday will be a dry night.

Meaning, no alcohol will be served between the hours of 6pm on Sunday until 6pm on Monday, in all bars and restaurants.

The rule applies as Israa and Miraj is a religious holiday, and all religious holidays are dry for the night before... Like on the occasion of Prophet Mohammad's birthday, for example, or the night before Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr.

What is Israa and Miraj?

Israa and Miraj is also known as the acension of the Prophet. It honours the journey of Prophet Mohammad that he took from Mecca to Jerusalem, and then his ascension into the heavens.
