Students in Saudi to Enjoy Longest Summer Break Ever

A royal decree has been issued for exams to be held earlier so that students don’t have to worry about studying while fasting.

Students in Saudi to Enjoy Longest Summer Break Ever
Saudi school and university students are set to have almost four months for a summer holiday this year.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued a decree to reschedule final exams before Ramadan starts in late May.

Therefore, universities and schools are expected to close for about 120 days, which is the longest school vacation to be held in Saudi Arabia. This was also the case last year.

The holidays are set to start on May 25th. While the news was welcomed by students and teachers, many parents are left unhappy. With the longer vacation, parents have to figure out how to occupy their kids.

If you’re a parent and you’re wondering what the kids can do with their time, here are some ideas.

1. Summer camps

Summer camps are a great way to keep the kids active and learn something at the same time. This is especially a good option for parents who work and can’t stay home or take extended vacation all summer.

2. Art classes

If your child is artistic, you can always enrol them in art classes. It’ll be something they enjoy and it’ll foster their creativity.

3. Horseback riding

There are some places that offer horseback riding for children, such as Dirab Golf Course and Recreation Center and Al Aghar Equestrian Club Diplomatic Quarters. This would be great for children who love animals.

4. Visit museums

There are plenty of cultural places to visit, including the National Museum, Murabba Palace, the historical buildings, the Public Library, King Abdulaziz Mosque and Memorial Hall. Also, check out the water tower which has a viewing platform and the small amusement park nearby.

Spending time at the pool can be a great way to pass time while keeping the kids active. If you find it too hot to swim outdoors, there are also indoor pools, such as in Al Multaka Ladies Centre, Ritz Carlton, Al Manahil, Diplomatic Quarters Sports Club, ESPA at Faisaliyah Hotel and Al Luthan.
