Progress On The Tallest Tower In The World: The Jeddah Tower

If you live in Jeddah or have visited it in the last couple of years then you most probably saw the skeleton of what is soon to be the tallest tower in the world – the Jeddah Tower.

The idea of the project originally started back in 2008 with ground testing, in 2011 the design for the tower was approved and construction eventually started in April 2013.

The building was originally known as the Kingdom Tower but recently renamed to the Jeddah Tower.

It is planned to be 1km high making it taller than the current tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa which is standing at 830m to the tip.

The tower is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 after nearly 6 years of delays.
