Just wondering of anyone commutes between Bahrain and Al Khobar in KSA? If so how does it work and how long does it take? We are considering it but need to check out of it is realistic before we commit! Many thanks for any advice.

My husband has been doing the daily commute since November. I ask him regularly if he believes it is worth the hassle. He emphatically replies in the affirmative. He says it is so worth it to get back to Bahrain, not only because he is coming home to me but because it's not Saudi. He previously lived in a compound in Saudi which was 15 min from work and despite the commute sometimes being a pain in the neck (it took 5 hours) one night!! He still prefers being in Bahrain. We decided to keep a supply of snacks and drink in the car for those times. After a while you pick your times to do the crossing. A lot of expats are doing the same thing. Most will declare it is worth it. edited by Nu2Bahrain on 09/02/2014 How it works - God only knows. You wait and be patient. You have to have insurance paperwork for the vehicle and you are issued with a short term visa into Bahrain each time, I believe. But I'm not sure of the requirements originating from the other direction i.e. Bahrain to Saudi edited by Nu2Bahrain on 09/02/2014
