VIPs Officially Inaugurate the Opening of Riverston Children’s Centre
The Riverston Children’s Centre (RCC) officially celebrated its formal opening in the presence of several distinguished figures in the Dubai community, including Dr. Omar Al Muthanna, Chief Executive Officer at the Community Development Authority, Huraiz bin Huraiz, CEO of Planning and Development at the Community Development Authority, Sami Daud, CEO of Al Daud Group and Saeed Belhasa, Director at Belhasa Holding PJSC.

The evening’s guest speaker was Nick Watson from #TeamAngelWolf, father of Rio and founder of a charity that focuses on raising awareness of special needs and on promoting the inclusion of People with Determination. The charity has won the Time Out Kids Contribution Awards 2017.

Other guests included school and department heads, nursery managers, inclusion specialists, healthcare practitioners, teachers, parents, media and community supporters.

A project which was in the works for two years, the Riverston Children’s Centre opened its doors in April 2017 as a joint venture between the UK’s Riverston Group and Tarbia, a Dubai-based company active in the education sector. The Centre has come to life thanks to the hard work and vision of Chairman Prof. Michael Lewis and the Centre’s Clinical Director Jackie Harland, from the Riverston Group in the UK. Prof. Lewis joined forces with the innovative and philanthropic Dubai-based Omani businessman Sami Daud, CEO of Al Daud Group and Tarbia, who was determined to give back to the community by improving the standards of care for children with special needs in the region. Backed by the Director of Strategy and Operations, Beatrice Cernuta, and a team of talented therapists including Meg Klien and Hannah Prince, the centre has quickly attained overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community of parents and educators and special needs practitioners during its first few months of operation.

A full-time Early Intervention Programme, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Assessments and Training Programs, all offered in custom designed facilities and by an experienced multidisciplinary team, are just some of the highlights of the RCC, which will keep developing and introducing the most advanced services for the Dubai Community.
