Spending summer in Dubai can get a little monotonous for the kids.
With the heat in full swing, it can hard to find activities which will keep them having fun and away from the heat. One of the easiest activities to enjoy with your kids is to make some yummy treats in the kitchen; perfect for summer!
Here are 4 ways that help keep your kids hydrated this summer:
1. Squeeze your own juice from an orange and freeze in lolly ice moulds
Cutting an orange into 4 segments and encouraging the children to squeeze the juice out by hand is not only fun but also works on the arm and hand muscles of your child. Freezing the juice to make a lolly ice gives the child a sense of pride in their hard work to create a yummy and healthy snack. Worried about the acid content? Add water to dilute the juice.
2. Make a simple hydration smoothie
Smoothies are a great thing to make with children, let them add the ingredients into the blender and watch their face as the smoothie changes colour and whirls around.
- ½ cup (120 ml) coconut water
- 2 cups (480 ml) frozen berries
- 1 cup (240 ml) fresh seedless watermelon, diced
- ½ cup (120 ml) plain or vanilla-flavored yogurt
3. Make fun shaped ice cubes
Ice can be molded into any shape so buying a fun shaped ice tray will encourage your child to drink more water this summer. Add fruits or use juice instead of water to make them look extra funky in your child’s water bottle.
4. Use funky straws
Funky or silly straws are a lot of fun to use especially when the children can see the liquid move through the straw. Fun straws are easily accessible with DIY straws even more fun for the older children
