Our facilities are spread over 14 acres of landscaped grounds and were designed to ensure that our students have the best environment to support their learning and development.

There are zoned areas for the Early Years, Primary School and Secondary School and the Primary and Secondary schools have separate studios to support the full IB programme of Visual Arts and integrated Design Technology on offer.

Our teachers are fully qualifiers graduates, many holding post-graduate degrees. All our teachers are trained IB practitioners, with many being IB workshop trainers and IB site visitors.

Student body: Co-educational, ages 3 to 17 years, over 80 different nationalities.

100% Pass Rate for our first class of graduates (2016/17) with an average score of 31 and one graduate even achieving 40!

Our students have access to a broad range of activities that fall under sports, arts and academic interests. Examples of some of the ECAs we’ve held include: MUN, Choir, Chess Club, Football, Dance, Scrabble Club, Basketball, Arabic Stories, Rugby, Qur’an and Hadith Recitation, World Scholars Debate, French DELF, TEDx Youth, Uptown Record Label and more.

UTS also offers a broad range of educational visits and excursions, which are a vital part of our curriculum.

Sports in the Primary School

Sports in the Primary School at UTS begins in the PE curriculum. All students attend weekly PE lessons that enrich and extend the unit of inquiry study in their classroom.

Swim is usually one of the weekly lessons with the other lesson on our multi-purpose sports field or in the PYP dedicated gymnasium. The sports programme is extended through the extensive free extra-curricular activities (ECAs) offered after school on various days during the week.

In addition, UTS PYP competitive sports teams are U11, U12 boys and girls football teams, swim squad for students in Grades 2-5, U12 girls netball and U12 boys and girls basketball teams.

Sports in the Secondary School

At UTS, we firmly believe in ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’ and hence Physical Education (PE) plays a major role in our curriculum. To keep everyone informed of all things sporty at UTS, we are a member of the Dubai Affiliated School Sports Association (DASSA) www.dassasport.org (the organization responsible for competitive school sport in Dubai).

UTS students are competing in a variety of competitive leagues and we are proud to showcase not just results on our very own fully integrated sports platform. Here, you will be able follow specific school teams, view fixtures and results, including location maps and kick off times, download your students fixtures to the calendar on your PC or mobile device and even have a look at upcoming opponents past results. You can also download our UTS Sport mobile web app to your handheld device.

The study of music is an integral part of the Uptown School curriculum and is transdisciplinary in nature.

Beginning in the Early Years, continuing at each grade level, music lessons cover a wide range of activities based on understanding musical form, creating and responding to music and are often connected to classroom units of inquiry.

Students learn to play the four-note ocarina in KG, the recorder in Grade 2, the violin in Grade 3 and guitar in Grade 6 as part of their music curriculum.
Uptown School is proud of its 90-student choir and 35-student percussion band.

French Language Study

Students commence the study of French which starts in Primary, and is taught as a second language.

Arabic Studies

As directed under the KHDA and the UAE’s Ministry of Education, all Uptown School students undertake the study of Arabic.

Language Support and Mother Tongue Maintenance

At Uptown School the language of instruction is English. Our international student population holds passports from 80 countries and speak 20 different mother tongue languages. We offer language support to assist students whose first language is not English.

As an IB school we encourage students to understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories as well as those of others, and to be open to differing values, perspectives and traditions.

With this in mind, Uptown School recognizes the dual goals of increasing English fluency when required and the importance of mother tongue maintenance and support.

In our Early Years Mother Tongue Maintenance Programme, German, French, Urdu, Hindi, Russian, Malayalam and Swedish are supported.
