Jumeira Baccalaureate School (JBS) is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for students from pre-KG to Grade 12 (ages 3 – 18 years). Established in 2010, the student body currently includes over 60 different nationalities.

The school’s motto; ‘know yourself, learn from each other’ encompasses the school’s commitment to fostering students’ understanding of their own background, as well as that of others in the community through being reflective and open-minded. The commitment to this ethos recently saw the Secondary division of the school win the coveted title of Mother, Baby and Child Magazine’s Secondary School of the Year.

Programmes

The IB curriculum is designed to make learning meaningful and linked to real-world situations. Focused on concept based learning and independent inquiry, JBS students are engaged, aware of their own personal learning styles.

International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) JBS is a candidate school for the PYP, a programme designed to build upon children’s natural curiosity by focusing on six themes of global significance.

International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) Intended for children aged 11-16 years, this program is designed to focus on intercultural awareness, encouraging communication skills and responsible citizenship.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) The DP is a comprehensive and challenging pre-university course intended for ages 16-19 years. Demanding the best from motivated students, it is an internationally recognised alternative to UK A Levels, the German Abitur and other university entrance level examinations.

International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) An alternative to the DP course, the IBCP is a brilliant option for students looking for a career-related, vocational education. It provides ‘real life’ experiences alongside a challenging course of study with activities including work placements and community volunteering. JBS also offers the UK based BTEC (Business and Technical Education Council) qualification in IT which, together with the IBCP, meets many university requirements.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

With a diverse student community of over 60 different nationalities, JBS’ dedicated EAL programme ensures that students are given the language tools to learn effectively as soon as they are enrolled at the school.

French and Arabic Programmes

Whilst English is the primary language of instruction at JBS, the school is committed to providing acclaimed, innovative and engaging French and Arabic programmes. Many elements of the school’s Arabic Programme has been praised by the KHDA for exceeding national expectations, whilst the French Programme gives an opportunity for native speakers to continue to study their mother tongue in a differentiated environment, with separate classes offered for beginners and native speakers from Pre-KG.

Leadership opportunities

JBS is committed to fostering the leaders of the future with an extensive range of extra-curricular activities (including sports, Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh Award, drama, dance and music), alongside overseas trips and annual camps.

Inclusion in practice

Our highly qualified and passionate faculty and support staff are dedicated to enabling all students to achieve their full potential. All lessons are differentiated to take into account students’ language needs, cognitive abilities and learning styles, whilst the school’s dedicated inclusion team includes four specialist SEN teachers and a pastoral counsellor alongside a range of devoted rooms and facilities for student support.
