Hello ladies,

My little girl is 6 weeks old now. Every time, I breastfeed her from my right breast, the muscles start pulling in the armpit, cramping all the way to my right shoulder blade. Its very painful. Panadol is not helping. Has anyone else experienced this ? Pls tell me how to solve this prob ? I am sure its not a posture prob because I breastfed my son in the same position (laying down on the side on the bed) for 2 yrs.

Thanks.

Back pain during pregnancy and during breast feeding is common thing which happen often with women. My neighbour was suffering from back pain with her child till she found a chiropractor Dr. Zak Merchoud who works in jumeira. Later I went to him for my back and neck pain and already after my first visit I felt freedom from pain and by the time with 3 more session I forgot about this pain.

This happened to me a few times with two of my kids but in a different spot on my back. I went and got a massage one time and that relieved the tension but another time what I did to help was used a heated pack on the area to loosen the muscle. It sounds like there is just strain on the area from nursing, and with each baby you'll have changes/differences. I love "rice bags" for this purpose. I had to make some by hand since I could not find it in stores. You sew a pouch and then fill 3/4 way full with rice (any kind). Heat in the microwave until warm (to a temperature that is not too hot to burn you) then set on sore area. Reheat as often as necessary.
