I know there is one in Dubai and they just opened one near Al Hamra RAK. Just wasn't familiar with the name. It looks alright but I also know from experience that looks can be deceiving. Any feedback would be helpful.

Hi, I consider Montessori Nursery in RAk for my son...Do you have any opinion regarding this RAK branch to share with me? Would be really grateful. Thanks, K.

Definitely not a proper Montessori if uniforms are compulsory. Completely against Montessori ethos. I am always suspicious of these schools claiming to be Montessori but not following the Methods or values.

Yes, my LO, now 5 used to go there. I actually prefered it to British Orchard nursery at the time of choosing. The staff are very attentive to the children, keen to give feedback and supportive of their needs. We loved going to all of the performances they put on throughout the year- obviously a great deal of time, effort and dedication required to organise it all, go through the rehearsals etc. and all of the children are involved. I felt they had a very nurturing environment. LO was very well prepared for FS2 when she arrived. At the school assesment the teachers were impressed that she went straight to the table and picked put her own name badge, even corrected them on how it should be spelt. Her reading/ spelling and numeracy put her in the top 5% of her FS2 class and she was very confident and comfortable moving to the Primary School. It was a no-brainer for me to put my next LO there. The only thing I can't stand are the crappy uniforms- the school went cheap on the tailors I think so we've had an ongoing disagreement about sizing. It's pathetic in the big scheme of things but that's my only bug bear! I'm not sure it's "tailored" towards Phillipinos, there certainly are a high proportion of Phillipino & Asian children. My little "whities" were in the minority. I didn't find a problem with the demographic mix, certainly not for pre-school. The only thing I would remark on is that my first LO did gain a distinct American twang until she went to Primary. This has since softened. I understand that the new nursery in RAK has taken some of the existing staff from the Mankhool/Bur Dubai branch. If the new branch is anything like the original one, more kids will get off to a great start. K
