Hi, does anyone know where you can dispose old batteries here in Dubai? The are very bad for the environment and back in the UK you have the put them in a special bin.

Funny you should bring this up, I just noticed a new battery and electronic disposal carton/stand at the back entrance/exist of Spinneys at the Meadows.. Yes, Spinneys Motor City now has same right by the checkout counters.

Funny you should bring this up, I just noticed a new battery and electronic disposal carton/stand at the back entrance/exist of Spinneys at the Meadows. These are definitely new, and they say that they accept old batteries and old mobiles, electronic type devices -- although I am not sure they could accept laptops or the larger items. The containers don't appear to be that structurally sound to handle large heavy items. I don't know if other Spnneys are doing this, but one would have to assume it is or going to be in all of them at some point. Either way, fits the bill, and I have a bag of batteries I have been accumulating for disposal. In the past, I have taken batteries and mobiles to an Enoc petrol station over on the slip road of the Garden Center off of Sheik Zayad Road. There was a small recycling structure set up where you could bring batteries, mobiles, and I even think laptops, etc. Hope this helps.

I collect used batteries and take them to the EEG office on Beach Rd, just before Beach Ctr. They are open weekdays and Saturday morning.
