I am talking about the era of Salahuddin - Does anyone know what they are called from the arab perspective. Thanks Selah'edine Eyubi. His name means "righteousness of the faith."

I am talking about the era of Salahuddin - Does anyone know what they are called from the arab perspective. Thanks Salah Eddin was from the Ayobian state in that time. Unfortunately arabs and muslims call them crusades in english, and hamalat salebe'ya in arabic, which latterly means (The Cross believers's Campaigns ) HTH

The Crusades were started by the Muslims in the year 630 A.D. when Muhammad invaded and conquered Mecca. Later on, Muslims invaded Syria, Iraq, Jerusalem, Iran, Egypt, Africa, Spain, Italy, France, etc. The Western Crusades started around 1095

i have that book but not yet read it. Just wondering as i would have always refereed to them as the Crusades but then after converting seems abit odd to call them that - as they were crusading against Islam......

I read this book in University. "Les croisades vues par les Arabes". It is a real eye-opener as to some the the atrocities that the Christians also inflicted on the Muslims. A must read for anyone who wants an honest view of history

I've only ever heard them referred to as The Crusades although with a different inference. An interesting book on a Muslim / Arab perspective is The Crusades Through Arab Eyes, by ammin Malouf. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crusades-Through-Arab-Eyes-Essentials/dp/0863560237
