I hate it when people end conversations with 'Chow chow' - argh what IS that? LOL !! its Italian I think .. Ciao Bella ... Yes I know what it is. I meant why are they doing it when they're a. not Italian, nor b/ speaking to an Italian. It was a fad I saw many people doing a couple of years ago. wasnt sure as you spelt it CHOW as in food ...sorry Posh londoners 'ladies what lunch' say it lots ! ;)

You like or dislike VILE? I actually like that word. Not sure I dislike it. Just saying it actually works as a descriptive Heres one...more of a saying than a word 'been there, done that...got the tee shirt' whenever I hear this, I always say to myself "please dont say got the tee shirt" GO STRAIGHT FOR THE EYES ON' BEEN THERE' 2 finger attack straight for the pupils ... it will make you feel a WHOLE lot better ...... LOL !

Interesting in that the crotch of underwear is not technically a gusset - but I guess non-sewers might not be aware;) - as a matter of general information, a gusset is usually a triangular shaped piece inserted usually in the underarm area (OK maybe not quite so "intimate" as the crotch :\: but not necessarily attractive) to make arm movement easier. I can see why either location might be distasteful ;) I've heard of it in sewing terms and it doesn't bother me at all, but in the context on being the material insert in underwear I detest it. It must be a British thing because 'gusset' is commonly used as an underwear term. "It is what it is" is one that boils my p***. DH uses it and I can't help counteracting with "As opposed to 'it is what it isn't' " Of course it ******* well is what it is!!

Words that irritate me: "moist" "nom-nom" "end of" "epic" (especially when combined with the word "fail") "darl" How funny, you just reminded me of an ex-boss whose [b'>favourite [/b'>word was moist! We used to talk about onomatopaeia (words that sound like they're meaning) so my favourite was WRETCHED. Just love how it evokes the emotion even when you're just saying it! But that's another thread entirely... I have one for that. Vile!

Innit - LOL DH's answers are - like (there's another one 'like)...you're on holiday, and you're sleeping a bit later - maybe phone rings or knock on your door and your all bleary eyed and yawning and the other person goes "you lazy b******d!" his point, how can you be lazy if you're genuinely tired from just waking up - - also when you arrive later than usual at the office, say about 10.30am, and some idiot goes "afternoon"

why does gusset make you shudder SD? I'm only familiar with it as a tailoring/sewing term - and it certainly isn't used in a rude way (or a rude area) in that context. I'm not sure. Gusset is also the cotton piece in the CROTCH of ladies underwear so maybe it's the thought of a 'moist gusset' that makes my teeth itch.

I don't like the word "bogan", used in Australia to describe a lower class person who behaves in a certain way and wears certain clothes. Like a Chav? Yes!! And for some reason I don't like that word either ha ha!

Yep...also known as a Bevan, Booner or Westie, depending on which state you're from. :D ETA: More like bevan, booner or westie. One wouldn't capitalise the lower classes! lol edited by Green-ish on 03/11/2011

condiments - I mean come on, it's 2011!! Really? I often use that word to save saying to DH "can you please bring tomato sauce, bbq sauce, mustard, salt AND pepper to the table". I really love condiments, great catch-all word imo!

When people throw around the word 'epic'. And use 'fail' as a noun. Makes my teeth grind!

I can't stand it when people say "AKS" as in Ask, I hadn't heard it for ages then one of the contestants on X factor USA said it and I remembered how much it grated me.
