My Ethiopian helper ran away 2 weeks ago, we got her legally in October from Al Ahliya maids office, and yet she just opened the door while we r out and left taking her time to pack all her stuff. As soon as she completed 3 months , she just took off , she knows some1 here in Dubai. So now she s working illegal somewhere somehow. Now who protects our rights? We pay a fortune to get them and simply now nothing can be done.

Hello, If the cleaner was under your sponsorship you must report her. If not, you have to get back to the agency and discuss with them a replacement or refund. I hope she only took her belongings and nothing that could put you in trouble ; ID, passports, SIM cards, credit/debit cards... make sure none of these are missing otherwise report this to the police. Good luck!

Sorry for your experience. Not to sound raciest but unmatched value system usually ends in unmatched expectation / Outcomes. You mention she left exactly on 3 months, was agency guarantee period 3 months? I haven't come across any law to protect employers rights so far. I know exactly how it feels. I had a runaway few years back too. If she is on your sponsorship, you must report her absconding otherwise the consequence of her action remain attached to you, in a certain way.
