It seems your cat is very naughty. However, if you are feeling depressed with her habits, you should consult with a good behaviourist to train her to live at home with other cats politely.

I'm sorry for bumping this old thread, but I really feel like I have some advice to offer you - and you seemed to really need it at the time One of my 2 cats (both neutered males) had taken to painting all of my walls, furniture, and anything else he could reach. I was horrified when I got a UV light. He never did that in all of the 9 years I've had him and didn't when I got him a buddy (they love each other and did so right away) but when a strange black cat started showing up outside both of my cats went nuts and the older one (9) started his wall painting, as well as the curtains out in the kitty room. I couldn't keep up with it. My cats are indoor cats so it's not like the stray is actually going to get in here but they both hate him (and he is weird...my neighbor's cats hate him too). I've tried cleaning with a pet urine enzyme and then spraying some "No More Spraying" but that hasn't worked. He's a sneaky little bugger too; he waits until he thinks I'm not looking and then does it. He's learned that the minute I see him backing his butt up to something he gets yelled at. It wasn't until I found "Cat Spraying No More" that I was able to finally get rid of this tiresome behavior. Now my house doesn't smell like a litter box anymore :) Here's a link the their site if you're interested in checking it out: NoMoreCatPee.com I hope you guys don't mind me sharing this. Cheers!

Putting a cat or any animal to sleep is far better than putting it out on the street to die a slow death in the heat. Too often people do this and it is extremely cruel and painful. Some vets are very understanding and would not judge you at all. Often it is even recommended. Don't feel bad. Your cat has had a great life until now and is very lucky. She will be happy that you are not putting her through any stress/cruelty. I have 10 cats so I understand your passion for them.

Take the cat to be put down, perfectly ok, and don't take any greif from the receptionists. Too many cats in a small environment can often lead to problems like this.

well, the reason we have animals is to add pleasure to our family. when the animal becomes aggressive/peeing etc and we have tried everything and you cannot rehome her then you know what you want to do. You could try calling Sanctuaries, friends of animals to see if someone can give her a 2 week trial unless someone comes forward here but when it comes down to her not having a good quality of life, your family not having a good quality of life then euthanasia might be the answer. Hate doing it, its painful and heartbreaking but your cat sounds as if she is also at the end of her road :( Normal cat things is not peeing for 3 years everywhere in the house. I could probably say that she is now doing it because she has marked and remarking. Someone had a similar problem awhile ago but I am not sure what the outcome was. Anyway, good luck and maybe someone will step forward to give her a trial.

SueB, she does spray vertically but also on tables and shoes, etc. You're right, the pee doesn't smell as bad as boy's pee but enough of it sprayed around smells. I'm sure she would love to be an only cat but no one I know will take her because she is so aggressive. I feel like I've tried everything and persevered for three years and spent time and money - a lot - on her but am not seeing any change or even progress on her part. I guess I'm just at the end of my rope with her. I understand that she is just doing normal cat things but it is impacting on my life and my kids in a vey negative way unfortunately. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks very much..

agree with MC. Sounds like your kitty wants a smaller household of felines and is stressed. Female spray is not like pee and it should not smell and..is usually backed up to vertical surfaces. are you saying she is actually peeing everywhere (on surfaces) rather than spraying vertically?

Can you get someone to take her for a few weeks just to see if the spraying continues? She might just want to be an only cat and not share her space with others - in which case the spraying might stop.

I am a cat lover. In my life I have had 8 cats. I now have 4- one 16 year old from NZ and a 3 year old, a one year old and a six month old - all Dubai cats. Over the years, I have had my other 16 year old Kiwi cat pass away from kidney failure and had 2 Dubai cats just disappear without a trace causing me great heartache....I still look for them when I'm out. One of my cats, the 3 year old, has been a problem since we got her. She is aggressive, a bully and extremely territorial. Because of this, I presume, she sprays everywhere and has done so for the past three years. I have taken her to the vet and had her checked - no health issues. I have tried a calm collar and the plug in calming stuff - nothing. I have tried a cat behaviorist, lots of love and affection, threats and water sprays, locking her out, locking her in the bathroom - nothing works!! I have young children and there is cat pee everywhere...on the kitchen table, in the bed, on the kids' toys, the carpets, the fridge, microwave...everywhere!! I'm at my wit's end!! I know no one will want her so finding her a new home is not an option - unless anyone out there needs a challenge? I don't know what to do. Is euthanasia an option? If so, is there a vet who would do it or is it ethically unsound? I don't hate her but I don't love her either. I am just so, so, so sick of the pee everywhere I look....and sit and sleep and eat... Please help!!
