Hi Ladies

Could you please help! Pregnant with our first and don't know many ladies who have had to deliver in Dubai without insurance, so am turning to you ladies.

Has anyone had experience with prenatal check-ups and delivery at Latifa Hospital? Which doctor did you use and how did it all go? Any tips or other hospital recommendations? We are also looking at Dr. Yamini at Zahra hospital.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi ladies. This is Raziya from Sharjah. I'm 5 weeks now with no insurance. Just started applying for my own visa and insurance. I did my first delivery india which was water birth. Just want to know if I get my insurance will I able to see maternity here covered in insurance. And suggest some good hospital which undergoes natural birth without medical interventions

Thank you for the replies! I must say I am not crazy about the idea of not always seeing the same doctor. The only reason why we are considering Latifa is their NICU and (in case needed, hopefully not!) CS price. If you look at their normal delivery prices compared to Zahra it's pretty much the same as well as the antenatal package. Thank you very much for the replies ladies!

I gave birth in LH last November. Money wasn't the factor. I choose to give birth their. It might not look like hotels room like private hospitals, but medical wise they follow the highest standard regarding mother and baby well being. The comment below about not bathing the baby immediately and leaving him/her with the mother. Daah, this is the recommendation world wide even in US and UK! About the scan I had 2 complete scans that each lasts for about 40-50 minutes. In addition to 4 fast scans in doctors' office. I had uncomplicated normal delivery that last for 36 hours and they were very patients with me. If It was in private hospital I'm sure I would be pushed toward CS. The nurses were very helpful and nice. Doctors were very good. Mid-wife assist the delivery. Pre and post Delivery I was seen by Consultant, specialist and gyne residents in addition to midwives. During my pregnancy i needed one night hospitalization for low fetal movement and all the CTG, test and doctor visits cost around 500 or less. Saying that lilypad28 had very valid point about the appointment. They are very busy and you need to book with them as soon as possible and nag as much as you can for earliest appointment. Ask them to change your team to get closer one. Overall I would say it depends on what you want. I wanted well trained doctors and mid-wives who deliver thousands of ladies yearly, baby friendly hospital with great breast feeding support and excellent pediatric team and NICU in case something went wrong. So I tolerated the late appointments and not fancy room.

Thanks Just signed in to say that I wont recommend Latifa, from what I understand it used to be good but the care is not as good as it used to be. The antenatal care I received wasn't really good. Also you cant rely on getting an ultrasound since they are so busy. The ultrasound date I was given was after my delivery date so you can imagine. The staff who book your appointments are really quite abrupt and rude, i would suggest you save your self the stress and go private.

My friend delivered at Latifa recently so i have some idea. You have to take the antenatal package in cash (not covered in insurance). Then there is a panel of doctors. You cannot choose only one. who so ever is on duty will see you although everything is mentioned in detail in your file so it wasn't awkward if you are fine in seeing different doctor. As for the tests her detailed scan took only 10-15 min whereas mine took 55 min the first time and this time 40 min. their delivery suite is good but she wasn't given a room till evening as no room was free at that time. So she had to stay in the general ward as she delivered in early hours of the morning. After care was fine not good or great and they didn't took the baby for cleaning for almost 3 hrs!! we had to ask again and again to clean her baby. No night time rest also. I delivered in IMH 2 years back and nurses took care of my baby so well during night so i can sleep. They used to bathe him right away in the morning whereas in latifa nurses are not bothered. you can do that once you reach home we were told :) this time (24 weeks) i am also in zahra but with different doctor. This is really a tricky thing to decide. Latifa delivery expenses will be less as compared to Zahra. And if you want you can look at IMH near country club in burdubai. They are also very reasonable. Although the doctor with whom i delivered now has her own clinic but still delivers there. The staff and pre and post care is amazing in IMH (international modern hospital)

Hi abet, Can't help you with Latifa but I was in your same position - no insurance. I visited most hospitals to see their delivery suits and get package price info. Have you been to Lafita? Not the nicest hospital to look at (not saying that was my reason for not choosing there)! I ended up choosing Dr Yamini & Al Zahra and got the antenatal package from 12 weeks. Dr Yamini was great as was the hospital. Delivery went smoothly and most things are included in the package price. I would recommend Dr Yamini & Al Zahra!
