DS was potty trained in July. all is going well - he even goes himself - and there are very few accidents. our problem is with poop. he's done it on the potty a couple of times, and on the big toilet once. we made a big whoohaaa which he enjoyed but now ... he poops in his pants, on the floor, behind the curtains, you name it ... except where he is supposed to.

i dont know what's going on. any explanation? any advice?

It's normal for poo to take longer, except when parents have done EC in which case the kids seem to get poo first. My son didn't do the poo in his pants thing but lots of my friend's kids did, but he would demand a nappy when it was time for poo which I just gave him for at least the first month, some kids just hold it in and end up getting really constipated which you really want to avoid as that can become a long lasting problem. We resorted to straight up bribery, I bought a big pile of cheap toys, put them on a high shelf and each time he pooed in the potty he got one. After around 15 presents (yes make them very cheap!) then he had gotten over the phobia and we switched to just lots of praise. It was another hurdle again to go from potty to toilet poo again the bribery ;)
