Chemical Peel treatment is a safe and effective solution to treat dark circles and under-eye in Dubai
2 February 2022
| Last updated on 10 February 2022Dark circles, under-eye bags, and wrinkles can form for a variety of reasons such as thinning skin, lack of fat, or hyperpigmentation.
Sometimes, they are caused by lack of sleep or simply due to the natural aging process.
Currently, there aren't that many solutions available for patients striving to improve their skin around the eyes, as the skin in this facial area is thin and delicate.
The most common treatments for dark circles and under-eye bags include injections of fillers, Botox, mesotherapy, and laser rejuvenation or carbon laser. These are offered at Dr. Kamil Al Rustom Skin & Laser Centre, and we're happy to say that their specialist now provides chemical peel as well.
Chemical peel treatment for the under-eye area
Chemical peels are another safe and effective solution that can brighten and smoothen the area around the eyes.
This treatment helps with decreasing fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles and evening out the irregular skin pigmentation. Additionally, the patient can easily see their refreshed and youthful-looking appearance post-procedure.
What does this treatment do?
Chemical peels give the skin a deep and thorough exfoliation, removing dead and unhealthy skin cells to expose the fresh, new skin beneath.
Quite often with time, our skin suffers damages in different ways. Chemical peels can help eliminate these issues by stimulating new skin growth, and as a result, clearer and healthier skin comes out.
Chemical peels are often the first choice for cosmetic surgeons to target under-eye bags and dark circles which develop due to the thinning of the skin in the area around the eyes. After the skin heals from the peel treatment, the new skin is stronger, thicker, and less likely to form bags.
What types of chemical peels are available in Dubai?
At Dr. Kamil Al Rustom Skin & Laser Centre, there are two types of chemical peel treatments available:
- Anti-aging eye treatment based on vitamin A and polyhydroxy acid resulting in rejuvenation of eye contour, reducing crow's feet and firming sagging eyelids, smoothing out fine lines around the eyes.
- Peel for dark circles indicated to reduce pigmentation in the periorbital area and thicken the skin.
Before doing this procedure, a consultation with a cosmetologist is necessary to discuss your medical history, home care, indication and contraindication to the chemical peel.
What does a chemical peel procedure target?
- Periorbital photoaging.
- Crow's feet.
- Sagging skin around the eyes.
- Loss of skin elasticity around the eyes.
- Chronic dark circles.
Who is not eligible for this treatment?
- Those with an allergy to chemical peel constituents.
- Anyone who's had recent sun exposure within 10 days prior to a peel.
- Pregnant women.
What's involved in a chemical peel for dark circles, under-eyes, etc. ?
At Dr. Kamil Al Rustom Skin & Laser Centre, the under-eye peels are performed by a certified cosmetologist. A complete chemical peel treatment plan involves 15-minute treatments with 4-5 sessions, each scheduled 2 weeks apart.
During each session, the cosmetologist will perform these steps:
- Cleanse your skin.
- Prepare your skin for the peel (according to your individual skin condition).
- Apply the peel.
- Neutralise the skin by applying a solution to stop the progress of the peeling.
- Apply natural moisturisers containing acid and antioxidants to moisturise and soothe the skin.
- Apply sunscreen to protect skin from UVA/UVB rays.
What to expect after a chemical peel?
After the procedure, the patient is required to wear sunglasses and a hat to protect their skin from direct sun exposure as it might cause the appearance of pigmentation. It's also mandatory to use a quality natural moisturizer on the face throughout the recovery period to prevent dehydration and to lock in the results of the peel.
For a better result, you must follow your cosmetologist's advice on how to use professional home care products, follow a diet, and keep your body well-hydrated.
