Many of the facial rejuvenation trend predictions named here were also popular in previous years with anticipation of continued growth in the 2017.
One common goal for all facial rejuvenation treatments that continue in to 2017, is the Desire for Natural-Looking Results.
Here is our Top 6 Facial Rejuvenation Predictions as we begin the New Year…
1- Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
PRP Therapy is an increasingly popular injectable procedure amongst both men and women for Facial Rejuvenation, Skin Repair and Hair Restoration. This is one of the most sought after procedures at Elite Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Group. Normally our patients have the PRP treatment on its own but since beginning of 2016, we’ve been seeing a significant increase in demand for combining PRP injections with surgical and other non-surgical procedures, for faster healing and enhanced results.
PRP Therapy is a completely natural procedure which involves extracting patient’s blood, processing it to isolate the platelet-Rich plasma (PRP), then re-injected into strategic areas to encourage healing and renewal through new collagen production and increased growth factors. This in turn creates a more youthful, plumper, and firmer appearing skin. PRP can also be injected into scalp to naturally stimulate hair growth and make existing thinning hair thicker by strengthening hair follicles.
Since beginning of last year, we have seen a significant increase in the number of patients, both men and women, requesting PRP injections for increased hair density and 2017 will likely include even more PRP hair restoration procedure than previous years.
Good to know: PPP injection treatments and results may vary between providers. In our practice, typically 17-21 ml of PRP is injected in one session to treat the whole face or scalp.

2- Muscle Relaxing Injections
For decades, Botox has been one of the most popular injectable rejuvenation treatments, and in 2017, it continues to be at the top. Botox targets the facial muscles that are causing dynamic or expression wrinkles to form. It blocks the nerve impulses to the muscle and as a result the muscle relaxes, significantly reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the skin above the treated muscle, producing a more youthful and overall smoother appearance. This blocking effect on the nerves lasts on average, up to 6 months, at which time the muscle regains full movement and wrinkles reappear.
Good to know:
We do not recommend having Botox injections as wrinkle preventative treatment. Your face is supposed to wrinkle when you talk or make expressions. Botox should only be considered when you start noticing expression lines and wrinkles when your face is relaxed. Patients should have right indication for this treatment and should allow for the muscles to fully regain movement before repeating the treatment.

3- Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are still the fastest growing fillers in the world. These fillers act like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity. They also have the capacity to bind large quantities of water and keep the skin firm and supple.
HA Fillers work best on mid- and lower parts of the face, for restoring lost volume in the cheeks, chin and tear troughs (the area situated between the lower eyelid and upper cheek), enhancing the lips, treating deep laughter lines (nasolabial folds), smoker's lines around the mouth, minor nose deformities, and sunken areas of the face. Fillers come in different viscosities, in general, the “thicker” the product, the deeper it is injected into the dermal layer of the skin. For instance, Juvederm Voluma has the thickest consistency hence it works best for restoring volume to the cheeks or for chin augmentations, whereas Restylane is a much softer filler, hence preferred for the tear through area.
Good to know: The filler immediately plumps up the area and over a period of 2-4 weeks, will continue to attract water and settle. Depending on age, lifestyle factors and type of filler, results may last anywhere from 3 to 12 months. Keeping your body hydrated will aid in longevity of HA fillers as hyaluronic acid absorbs water from its environment to add to its effect.
4- Dermapen Micro-Needling
The concept of Dermapen Micro Needling (an FDA-approved electronic fractional micro-needling device) is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical injury such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. As the Dermapen device moves across the skin, it enables the controlled induction of the skin's self-repair mechanism by creating "micro-injuries" in the skin which proceed to trigger a whole series of events including release of a cascade of growth factors, boosting collagen and elastin production which leads to skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, and improvements of skin tone and texture. It has also been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, acne scars, and stretch marks.
Combining PRP with Dermapen micro-needling treatment encourages healing from the inside out and enhances the results.
Good to know: There are two variations of Combined Dermapen with PRP treatments available at Elite Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Group. One is Dermapen treatment with topical application of PRP (as serum), and the second is Dermapen treatment with a combination of PRP injections & topical application. Patient suitability for either option is discussed during consultation.

5- Fat Transfer / Fat Grafting / Stemcell Facelift
Fat transfer to the Face also known as Facial Fat grafting, Stemcell facelift, Microfat or Nanofat transfer, are all same fat injection treatment to the face and have been popular for some time now and the popularity only continues to grow. Today, through modern stemcell facelift techniques, purified fat is transferred to areas of the face, enhancing facial volume and improving skin quality.
The procedure involves the collection of fat tissue from either the abdomen or thigh areas using a form of limited liposuction. The fat containing fluid which is extracted is then purified to extract the fat cells and these are then processed and injected in to strategic areas of the face to correct or improve thin or asymmetrical areas and to restore volume to, sunken eyelids and tear trough hollows below the eyes, thinning lips, chin and cheeks, areas around the temples and jawline, and also improve facial scars due to acne or trauma.
Good to know: For optimum results and longevity, multiple sessions of fat transfer is necessary.

6- Combination Treatments
With all the available options today, it’s no surprise that practitioners are finding combination methods valuable for enhanced results. Combining treatments allows for a natural, comprehensive result that addresses the different signs of ageing.
One popular option amongst our patients is the MesoNatural Therapy which is a combination of micro-needling and Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy. PRP really enhances the overall results and speeds up the healing time.
Other great combinations include PRP with Laser Rejuvenation, RF facial sculpting and Chemical peels. The beauty of PRP therapy is that it can be combined with any facial treatment to promote faster healing and enhance the results.
Use of prescribed skincare products with skin treatments, Botox and Filler injectables are also popular with our patients.
What should you consider before contemplating any cosmetic procedure:
A thorough initial consultation is essential. You should fully understand all aspects of the procedure and be given time to discuss your concerns and questions with the practitioner before undergoing treatment.
Thoroughly research your Practitioner/Clinic. Word of mouth and recommendations from people you know are usually the most reliable guide.
Cheap is not always best. Don’t base your decision on price alone.
Treatments should only be carried out in a clean, safe and appropriate clinical environment, so as to avoid infection and permanent physical damage. Treatments should be carried out in a clinical facility and NOT in a home setting or, for example, a nail bar or tattoo parlour.
As with any Cosmetic Treatment, a thorough consultation and assessment with an experienced specialist who can discuss all aspects of the procedure, including the pros and cons, and answer all of your questions and who can provide you with GENUINE information, suitable treatment options and realistic expectations is a MUST. Regardless of which treatment you consider, safety is extremely important! The main priority for every practitioner should be to achieve the best possible aesthetic result without risking your health.
